Ive been trying to figure out how someone tells a color hue is rare, and cant seem to. Certain hues are real obvious from 20 years of UO experience, but plenty are ambiguous for me. Its actually only recently that I found out the robes dropped by mages in the Shame mage towers are semi rare. I see a lot of players with things like "a half apron" that they say is a rare hue, but it looks like an ol' blue or red to me.

Ive been trying to establish a pattern with the -hue command from Razor. Is there a certain number range where all of the things are considered semi/rare hues? Is there just a list people memorize / refer to that lists individual hues not commonly found in Sosaria?

I also see people selling statues and other deco and advertising the hue. Is there a hue thats more desired than others for this? Are there some hues that would automatically raise the price?

How does one know the color hue of a specific item is rare? I know this is obvious for things that dont normally drop in any color but one (i.e., you dont see "red swords" or "white sandals" etc), but what about subtle things like clothes or deco items, etc?

The hues considered "rare" would most likely be the ones you can't get with a dye tub. I think dye tub hues are (and please correct me on this if I'm wrong) are between 1 and 1000.

Many people covet Anniversary hues. Every year, items are released in 2 special colors. Each year gets its own colors.

Tailoring bods can get you special hues, as well, although most don't sell for a whole lot, except for 1150, which is a bright, icy white color.

A lot of clothing rarity comes from special names the clothing item may have. For example, someone has a robe that looks like a normal blue robe but is called a "Blue Game Robe" (I think that's what it was), and it sold for a whole bunch of gold. Anniversary clothing, again, is named for that year's anniversary, as long as it hasn't been cut. Once you cut anniversary clothes, I think any clothes you make with the cloth are named like regular clothes, but retain the anniversary hue, of course. There's also a relatively rare type of sandals called Vendor Sandals, that are from this server's past. I was lucky to find a pair back when I was still new and sold them on the forums for somewhere around 800k. They weren't any special hue, or blessed, or anything. They looked like regular sandals, but since they were called "Vendor Sandals" they were highly sought after.

Thanks! This is the main piece of info I was missing. I'm "-hue ing" a lot of my stuff now, and seeing a fair amount of things above hue 1000 (mostly those mage robes...). I once saw someone with this really dark crimson robe that had this shadowy, shaded effect to it, and I assumed it was one of these kind of drops but diddnt know how you get that color - well its a rare hue above color #1000, I get it now.

I've been interested in this as well, I recently got a nice gray color and sandals from *Redacted* and was wondering what other hues are available in similar fashion.

Look in the item compendium; a lot of times, rare hues won't have too many items in that particular color.

Also just watch forum posts and keep your eyes open. Distinguishing between "not many of them because it's rare" and "not many of them because there's 37 other red hues that look the same" takes some time to learn to distinguish.

That guide sounds like it would be a 'Hue'ge undertaking!

Can someone please explain a little about "prepatch" rune books and sandals?

Prepatch means something was done to them in the past that's since been made impossible because of a patch. For example, you used to be able to dye sandals with a leather dye tub. Telamon put in a patch that made it to where you couldn't do that, which made all dyed sandals "prepatch" and caused their value to skyrocket.

There are also rare hues from some of the special events such as Valentines Day, Halloween, and Christmas right? Did they drop on any monsters or did you have to purchase them? What are some of the rarer or popular hues from events?
