Am I correct in thinking that Daemons and Balrons during this Era always dropped a magical Long Sword? I swear I had stock piles of these when I used to kill them and every Vendor I went to had tons for sale all the time as well.
Not demons no. I could have sworn the balron sword was a non-magical one. I remember being disappointed when I'd kill one and check the sword and find out that it wasn't.
One of the two if not both dropped a magic sword every time. I remember always having Vanq Long Swords on my factioners. People used to always laugh at me for using them until they got hit.
Balrons should have 100% chance for a magic broadsword. It was like this on OSI and i farmed them a lot because nice weapons. I dont know if its already like this... i didnt kill one. But there also was a 100% chance for a random magical axe in Khaldun Tentacles of the Harrower "http://www.uorenaissance.com/info/?page=g_info_t5&id=1209" What i killed was a spectral armor in Khaldun. Spectral Armors also dropped 100% magical cutlass (they are fighting with one). The one i killed didnt drop it. Specially farming spectral armors was a nice to get a "ok" silver weapon - well - cutlass arent best weapon you know. As Khaldun are special monsters random slayer may drop.
Just want to mirror what some other people have said, my memory is: non magical longsword on every balron not on daemons 1 random magic axe on tentacles of the harrower (any swords axe type, not polearms or war axe)
Spectral Armors used to drop a random sword type as I remember it. For some reason a non-magical shield drop rings a bell but I could be wrong on that.
I did some googling. You are right with this. Spectral armors always dropped a random one-hand-sword. My source is a german forum post of a player in 2002. Same player told balrons magic broad sword loot. As i already told on earlier post: Tentacles of Harrower in Khaldun always dropped a random magic axe weapon (and i am very very sure also the mace "war axe" - i farmed for it on siege perilious for my macer - well the farming method is not possible here... i peaced it so it only did its AoE effect but no magic attack. Seems to would work here only with disco it before)
All of this is pre-UOR I believe, during OSI t2a era everyone farmed tera keep for warriors because they dropped a magic wep every time. Balrons also always had a magic broadsword that the balron would actually use. For instance if the sword was a +20 vanq of ghouls touch when that balron hit you you would be hit with ghouls and paralyzed from the weapon he had.
