What I don't understand is why does "clicking" the sign trigger an AFK check, but Item ID doesn't? It's the same thing.

    I disagree 100%.

You know how many times we swooped in within 1-15min of an IDOC to poop on someone who's been sitting there all day waiting for it to drop? If we don't get automated timers, there is no way we'd get that tight of a window or have enough members online to take it.

Only SUPER juicy's are worth manually checking... not the random crap tower with 50k in resources inside, which is 99% of all IDOC's anyways.

These groups typically have 1 person running the GW books with a bot and MAYBE a couple others doing spot checks couple times a day.

If you remove the ability to get perfect/near perfect timers programically... the average person will be able to compete because there simply isn't enough man power for the "larger" groups to manually check all the GW's for 3 days non-stop to get tight timers.

This was my opinion when I was new to this server and saw this happening. This is my position after IDOC'n my neighbors properties all the way to being able to place my own fort.

Killing a bot, unless at the perfect time when the whole guild is a sleep does nothing... so there is essentially nothing to combat it.

@binlagin afaik the afk Gump for clicking house signs isn't to deter macroers, it's to catch people using an illegal 3rd party program. Razor doesn't have a way to single click an item, so if you're doing that automated, you're using something other than razor.

    EUO vs. Razor functionality

There are definitely ways around this, players that have IDOC'd for years and across shards that have implemented similar functionality to what is proposed know exactly how to gather information regarding IDOC timers.

Hard to say how this change would actually impact gameplay, but on similar shards I've seen them block the ItemID/Single click ability, and the only ones that really benefited were the hardcore IDOC'ers because organization will always trump a solo player trying to snag some loot, and limitations like this encourage more organization for IDOC groups.

Regardless, my first point stands in the fact that ItemID on house signs does not gather any resources and therefore should not be impacted by the AFK check.

This is the opinion and situation I find myself in.

I'm amazed people are happy with the current situation and simply accept it.

First off I made the poll for the reason of seeing support or not. I feel an unattended macro like this is very much equivalent to unattended resources as opposed to "training" skills.

I'm confused by the people that brought this shard along being the originals..... Does this mean I should not be making suggestions or actually seeing what others think? I mean that's one way to run a shard it's been done plenty of times before and the most recent I can think of is lucky to have 100 accounts going now but ok.

I've actually been keeping myself entertained today by screwing with said Joe Bot and the dozen or so people that have come out of the woodwork. This is for a HW, things not even IDOC yet.

Lastly I worded my title incorrectly originally with "wanting to change IDOC" I think this lead to many "Nos" without even reading. Though certainly many clearly oppose it

The current situation is great from a mechanical point of view. I don't idoc (anymore), but under current mechanics if I wanted to secure idoc loot or maybe a piece of prime real estate, the recipe to compete would be fairly simple:
    1. Go to the guides section of the forums and find trojancow's idoc guide and copy/paste the item id sign bot macro into my razor macros folder.
    2. Set absolutes, press play, tend to the bot whenever I got a chance since these tend to get killed, runes blocked, etc.
    3. Secure the tighest timer I could via the bot.
    4. Tell all my friends the timer and get everyone to show up to support me, since I have a tight timer and not some shitty 5 hour window its not much to ask for and probably a lot of friendly tamers will show up.
    5. Now the vet-idocers only choice is to show up on their own blues and then its just a looting and house placing competition, but at least I get a shot.

The no afk gump HELPS you lone wolfs and small up and coming idoc groups. If you aren't looking at it like that then your lack of vision is the problem. Run a bot, defeat their bot, get windows and show up for the drop.

I'm honestly amazed that so many have the view that this is great. I guess this is what freeshard IDOCs have become.

The automation that UO has become, at times feels more like I'm supposed to be playing Razer and not UO

Well looking at the numbers I don't have much an argument anyway. Doesn't mean I can't feel ashamed of its current state.

Instead I guess I'll join in the meme

You wanna fix something? How about a successful stun punch for 0 damage, right @Mandevu

Not to mention the crew who he used to run with doing that, now are here running the IDOC scene.

IMO, this ultimately is the reason why this won't ever get changed.

I think I'll just exit stage left as I didn't mean to stir the pot and will just continue to adapt to the "because that's how it's always been" mentality, because when it's all said and done this is still the best shard available for my likes.

Reading what happened to Erlkonig, in the above thread sure sounds like something happened.

Again my complaint isn't the solo guy VS the big bad wolf it was more of, why dafuq is this something that is allowed to be automated? But I'm beyond that now.

Ill just prefer to continue to be blissfully ignorant to any insider stuff as it's far too easy to get disillusioned on private UO shards..

This topic had been beat to death and argued far better than what I provided. And yet there has been no change, if anything it's made it easier to auto.
I wish I could lock my own thread. As I know now this clearly serves no purpose
