I can answer for myself please don't try to interpret what I'm saying.... With that:

I had no idea English was your second language, I'll retract my dense statement though you do still seem to enjoy being confrontational.

    To answer:
No, I don't care if I can compete, this is a part of the game I just don't feel monitoring decaying of houses should be automated. This is not to single out a certain large group here and if they are as organized as they say they are should have no problem with this change.

Again I don't care if I can compete and again if they are as organized as people are claiming I likely won't be able to compete. Though some of the smaller houses with minimal loot might be bypassed if someone has to manually check, maybe not.

I've tried to make it clear, I am not trying single out a group, nor trying to change a mechanic to somehow benefit me greatly (as rare as that may be with someone making a suggestion thread) but more along the lines of how I feel maybe UOR Idocs aren't "history perfected" in my eyes

I almost didn't post that second part on the off chance you were still watching the thread. Ultimately I did because @One brought up good points and did, even though that's not what my original argument was about

I get it. You defined it rather well on this last page.

Nothing wrong with valid questions. And I am happy to answer. I just want to be sure that players are not discouraged from an experience, before they even try the experience because players on the forums tell them it is not worth their time, and automation methods (that don't exist here) will make it impossible for you to be successful.

Even if someone gates in PvP'ers when a house falls does not mean they knew exactly when the house would fall. When I played we did this all the time. We might have only had a 2-4 hour drop window but we always had a ghost/stealther watching the house and would announce in our IRC channel when the house fell so everyone could gate in. This avoided drawing attention to the decay and gave us an advantage over players that might not be watching to closely because they assumed they had the house all to themselves. We used to have a swear jar type thing where if you were revealed or seen at a decay before it fell you were harassed (Jokingly) by the rest of the group.

Sometimes what might seem nefarious can also just be good tactics.

This also goes back to my original statement in this thread. The only mechanic that allows you to check a house sign here using a macro also allows any other player to kill you. And if you are running the macro unattended then you are not around to rez your guy, restock him, and restart the macro so you lose your timer on the house. This gives all players a felucca method to deal with this situation and makes everyone competitive tracking house decays.

If I were to idoc again I wouldn't waste time running around zones every week. I would mark all the large homes, POI's, bank houses and anything worth looting / placing. Run a bot to check all of those runes once a week for greatly status and pull those runes for ID bots. On my last check, about a year ago, there were 347 towers, 143 keeps, 7 castles, and 84 forts.

Hell if you were to mark all the houses, 2500-2600 of them, that would be like 150-175 runebooks? 55k-75k worth of reagents to check all of the homes with a simple recall to a house, check its status, and recall back home - nearly automated. At the end of the week use the world map housing data to find where new houses were placed and toss them into the runebooks. A bit of setup involved but totally do-able. Very little effort in keeping the runes up to date and keep your team mentally fresh without the burden of having to run zones and setup id bots.

This is roughly what I did as I slowly wound down my IDOC activities on my last server. I simply marked the houses that had one time or another hit fairly or beyond, that had a spot I wanted or items inside I wanted. And instead of scouting the world each week I simply checked these runebooks. Took way less time and I caught most of the decays I was Interested in. No need to even device a macro for it (you could if you wanted) but a fairly easy way to catch some decays.

Keep in mind to setup any macro to check house signs with razor you have to individually set the sign item id in the macro. This means each house you want to check has to be recorded in the macro for an accurate target of the sign. Target by type will not work reliably for macros like this.

All I can add is that

    1. People who make posts about IDOCing can never be found at an IDOC.
    2. People who complain about IDOCing fail to read or implement any of the simple advice they are given.

Game works fine, guys. Next thread plz.

    It's not considered resource gathering.
Players could refresh at any time.
Why would you want this afk gumped?
    step up the IDOC game

Coming from someone who barely knows how to play this game: Thank you for all the IDOC tips & tricks! Unfortunately for @Poogoblin I agree with the majority of people here that you should spend your time playing the game instead of complaining about your ineptitude. It's not too late to learn to compete with the best of them. I know I'll be 'hitting the books' as they say.

Please don't tag me if you're not willing to read the posts, I've stopped watching this thread awhile ago because my point has been said, some read it and don't agree with it, great. Some don't read it and chime in, I don't care....just please don't tag me if that's what you're going to do

I idocd for a little bit and i gotta say if it wasnt for the automated sign checker i wouldnt have bothered.

We had 3 people running the entire map twice per week on top of checking out all the fairly/greatlies we found. That was already hours per week on top of having a real life and trying to do something actually enjoyable in game so i didnt burn out running around the same damn circle of houses clicking 1000's of signs per week

    Yes to automation. Yesss

Messing with the joe bot is also super fun. One time i made 60 odd tables and placed them out front of a tower that was idoc to block their runes for shits n giggles. Then watch whoever comes to check on it try find your stealther. Its a game of hide n seek!

i dunno something like a macro named: downwithjoebot

    target closest innocent humanoid
    if sysmsg= no one
    play macro: downwithjoebot
    else
take screenshot (so now u know where his recall spot is)
    activate comm crystal
say: allowed revealed ruining (so u trigger his immediate escape)
    pause 10 seconds.

if that didnt work a simple macro to cast poison and hold it for nearest blue, immediately triggering the bot to take off when it recalls in. Sure youll get tons of counts, who cares all u gotta be able to do is cast poison lol. I am sure if you continue to ponder it, there are a multitude of solutions to taking down a bot.
