What if you could click that stealing skill, then click that horse... ... How would it work? Click stealing. Click the already tame creature System - "You begin preparing to steal the creature." 10 seconds later, you double-click and try to mount the horse. System - "Wade is trying to steal (Creature Name)" The system would then check the required taming/lore to successfully handle the creature. (Taking into account retame skill) Success/Fail Much the same as animal taming, but without all the overhead text. The harder a creature was to tame, the harder it would be to steal. Bonded animals would be even harder (+1 skill per control slot.) Failure would mean you went grey. (standard thieving penalties.) Success would mean that you successfully mounted the creature and could then ride away. Special. The animal would not be owned by you, meaning, that as soon as you dismounted it, the true pet owner could still summon it with a summoning ball. It would also mean that you would be unable stable it or give it orders. Basically, you would have to dismount the creature and let it forget it's previous owner (go wild) before you could tame and truly control it (or sell it.) You could however remount it in the same fashion that you stole it. ... What about things that can't be mounted? You mean dragons? Click stealing. Click the already tame dragon. (requiring 99.1 stealing/taming/lore unbonded - impossible to steal a bonded dragon because of the +3 from bonded control slots = 102.1 skill) System - "you prepare to steal the creature" Click herding. (Also requiring 99.1 herding.) Handle as normally. Leading the creature to where you want it to go.
If you can't steal a halberd, pretty sure this would be out of your means There's just so many bigger things on the list of "to-do" enjoy the creativity though!
Find that unbonded dragon/mare/zookeeper animal left out in the open. Lore it away to your secret lair until it becomes untamed and "steal it"
Don't let bonded stop you. Still lure it away and make them powder-pay for it back.... or ransom for a discount.
Technically speaking... The thieves would also be tamers... And for the most part, people would only be able to steal horses and other lesser tames. An unbonded drag at 99.1 would be like pulling teeth, bonded dragons would be impossible due to the added difficulty from bond slots, and even an unbonded mare would be impossible due to it's retamibility. (Which is something the thief would be prequalifying for in his attempt to steal it.)
Luring away pets was a nightmare back on Hybrid. You take your eyes of your bonded pet for a second and it was gone. And on that shard you had to donate for a pet summon ball. Either pay the RL $$ or wait a week for the pet to go wild before you could use your tamer again. I'm quite glad this isn't a thing here. And I don't even have a Tamer (that I use anymore).
Not unless the person enters the gate there isn't. AI will not enter a gate unless it has a controller, is in follow mode, is within range of the controller, and the controller enters the gate. If one of these things don't happen, it isn't going in with the default RunUO mechanics (which are definitely in place here right down to the bug letting pets enter gates through walls).
