    Hello, all!

I have searched and did not find a guide to GM mining. It is really unnecessary after finding a reliable macro?

I ask because I have an account with about 60 hours of young status available, and I want to make a battle miner. I can raise combat skills easily enough from the confines of a house.

Is it best to train mining up in the Ocllo dungeons?

That depends on how much time you dedicate to playing and respawn timers.

Yes, it's entirely possible to GM in dungeon / mining areas of Ocllo (don't forget island overland spawns too).

If one player is working mining at the time, Cove is great too. Don't forget to smelt what you dealt (smelt your ore 2x2 for some easy gains).

There is also a large area west of Britain which is in guarded territory as well.

Plenty of mountain to mine there with forges etc. See the picture and red box attached.

I GM'ed mining in the Ocllo mines. All you really need is a ton of pickaxes, a pack mule ideally, and a macro that targets relative location. I have one that is set up on a loop that monitors your weight, etc. if you need it. I would recommend banking all ore until you get high enough for smelt success, you'll thank yourself later. If you need any help just holler.

side note: don't take your pack mule near monsters in the Ocllo mines. you may be safe, but it is not.

Is there a place to mine that is safe from monsters in Ocllo mines? My pack llama has been attacker’s by the large rats. It was so annoying that I quit trying to bring a pack animal.

Also, is it generally a bad thing to mine ore and leave it on the ground? At this point, I have 60-some hours left of young status, and I do not know if it is enough time to GM mining.

Lastly, I’m still pretty clueless about Razor. Are there any good macros out there that check for weight? It may help me not leave such a mess on the ground behind me.

park your pack mule behind the stairs in the mine, or in the little shack above ground. bring the ore to it. Yeah, it's a walk, but it beats a dead mule, or running it to the bank.

I would leave the crap ore. (singles), keep the small rounds and the big piles... biggest yield when you go to smelt it.

and finally, here's the macro i use. you can loop it if you want (and i can tell you how), but as-is, it does 6 iterations of mining. you can bind this to a hotkey and press it as it finishes. Adjust the weight to 10-20 beneath your current weight, and it will tell you "FULL LOAD" when you need to haul off the current load. It uses relative location, so just right-click on that ( rel loc) and re-target it as needed. I commented it a bit to clarify what's what. If you need help learning razor, I, or several other people on this shard can assist.

EDIT:: To 'install' and use this macro, open file explorer, and type %appdata% in the bar above.
    go to: Razor>Macros
    Place the file there.
    Any questions, just ask.

    EDIT to the EDIT (last one): Just saw the 60 hours comment. No, you won't likely GM in that time frame. But there are out-of-ocllo options for safe mining. To name a few;

1.) Cove; there is a decent mountain range there to mine. Added bonus of a nearby bank.
2.) Britain; Tons upon tons of guarded mountainside there. Get used to long walks with this one though, unless you're packing magery.
3.) Minoc; Not sure on guarded or not 100% of the time, but it is relatively safe.

    I hope this helps.

Train up your mule's wrestling skill.

Yeah, that's right. I'm advocating PvM with pack mules up in here!

You shouldn't leave any ore. If you keep only the large stuff, you hit the carry weight limit a lot faster. You can double click ore piles and combine them with another type of pile of the same ore color (by type I mean large pile, small round pile, small scrap pile, etc), which automatically applies the "exchange rate" and converts to the smallest and lightest version of the ore.

So, for example, the large ore pile is worth 2 ingots per pile. The small scrap looking pile is worth .5 ingots per pile. But the small one is significantly lighter. So if you double click your large pile, and target the small scrap pile, you end up with 5 small scrap pile. Game converts the ingot value automatically (you had one small scrap pile, and the large pile is worth 4, so you now have 5).

Doing this as you mine, and place into pack horse, allowes you to bring back larger volumes of ingots per trip, cause the ore weighs so much less in the small scrap pile form. Equivalent ingots, but lighter carry weight, so less trips.

I kept one of each color small scrap pile in my bag, and as I mined, converted and transferred each pile minus the 1 piece into my pack horse so I always had that small pile on my character for conversion.

To prove this, go mine until you are overweighted. Make sure you have one of the small scrap piles in your pack. Once you are overweighted, combine all the ore into the small scrap pile. You are no longer overweighted, but you retain the same ingot value of ore.

PS: As far as gains, colored ore gives greater gains than iron. The harder the ore is to mine, the greater the mining gain. I used this to GM a lot faster on my second miner by just hitting high skill color ore spots in the 90s. Skipped iron nodes completely. Noticeably higher gains.

    Hope this helps somebody.
