So, I logged in planning to simply move my boat from wherever it was in the middle of the ocean back to my fishing house. Simple, right? Get on the boat, start sailing, hide, wait until you see land. I got a quick reminder that you never know what you're gonna see in UO.

The sailing started off easy enough. "Forward right"...Hide...light a cigarette.

Then I saw a sea serpent. No big deal, they're everywhere.

Then I saw 2 more. Then a deep sea serpent. Then a lock lake monster, an another. Wait, what? Those don't spawn naturally.

Then my boat ran into a kraken. Fortunately, it didn't stop. Unfortunately, the kraken decided to go along for the ride. Anyone who's had a dolphin stuck in their boat deck knows exactly what I'm talking about.

I started to panic a little, but I was hidden, so no big deal. My calm lessened when my boat ran into a nest of serpents and deep sea serpents, and all decided they wanted to go hitchhiking, as well.

I tried to stay hidden, but I had to change direction. So, I took a deep breath and said "Here we go".

All of the monsters attacked me at once. I couldn't get any major spells off due to the constant barrage of attacks, so I was limited to minihealing as fast as my hotkey could go. That sustained me all the way until I reached land. I hit the plank and ran off the boat, HP nearly at 0 and not even enough mana to cast a miniheal. I ran offscreen as fast as I could, but the kraken decided to shoot one more fireball. "Yay! I got awOo! Oo, oooO..."

I rezzed myself and went back to my boat...here is what I found.

So, I thought it would be funny to cast some blade spirits on the boat. What are they gonna do? They're bloody sea monsters. It's not like they can jump off the boat and come get me! (scroll down)

    Aw, shit!

Apparently, not only can sea serpents jump off the boat onto the shore, they can also SWIM AROUND ON THE GRASSSSSSSS!!

    WTFboat3.png

But not well enough. That'll probably be the only time I can say I killed a sea serpent on my front porch.

After I killed all the stowaways, I grabbed my tamer, and went back to where I picked the monsters up. Apparently, someone had cast a bunch of nets and then left, cuz I found more sea monsters in one place than I ever have before. After killing a couple dozen of them, I used tracking and my tracking gump was still full of monsters. It took me forever to kill all of them.

Unfortunately I was so busy killing shit that I didn't get a chance to take any pictures. I do have snippets of an IRC conversation I was having at the time (the name of the other player is redacted until he gives me his blessing to share it)

The moral of this story is, always expect the unexpected.

In the end, I killed 2 lock lake monsters, 5 krakens, and more baby sea serpents and deep sea serpents than I can count. My best estimate is I got probably 25 nets worth of monsters and loot for free.

So, thanks to whoever dropped those nets and bounced.

Sea creatures seem to be getting fed up with fishers farming them lately and following them on land. They're evolving!

Soon they will begin mating with land based creatures!

Wait until the day when we have an amphibious half-lock lake monster/half-white wyrm!!!!

So no amibs or special nets?

Maybe the net caster was telepathic...

I thought the had amibs? And the loch lakes should still potentially drop the special hued nets, no?

Sorry i rushed that comment. Shipwrecked krakens carry amibs, lake lochs dont. And not sure what has the ability to drop special hue'd.

Any fished up sea serpent will drop either a LvL 1 Map or an Mib. Spawned ones have a chance at a LvL 2 Map drop like most monsters

But yea, it has been a while since I have fished. I use to triple box, but haven't since early summer last year so I am a little fuzzy on what exactly dropped what from mibs and nets.

Ive only gotten special hued nets from deep sea serpents. Ive gotten them both from DSS fished up with nets and my pole.

Lock lakes have nothing special (that ive ever gotten). Just gold.

I fish a ton, and I've been seeing a lot of sea monsters not pulled up by myself. Sadly, I rarely get the loch lake monsters, so the loot is very poor and wastes my arrows.

I think I might of run into this bunch a week or so back. I killed two loch lakes and I know there was still more when I left. I crossed a server line with one on my boat when I initially ran into them.
