Thanks Earsnot, I get asked that question a lot for different things. I like to make pictures out of one thing that are done to make it look like it is made from another. That is pencil crayon. I wanted to paint something, but I didn't have paints (old and dried out) So... I drew something like I painted it instead. We make due with what we have.
It's why I have to bounce between digital and physical. I find if I'm working on a digital project I get super complacent and lazy (with the benefit of more experimental sometimes) because I can always hit that undo button. I have to make myself go back to oils every few weeks to put my cockiness in check. 13 years of tattooing has served me well over all though. Every lines gotta be tight, every colour section solid and every gradient smooth as silk. So many mediums, not enough time!
