Fortress with a secure CY is pretty good.

    I rather enjoy an SST.
Ive 4 of those, 3 of which are deco'd properly to their theme and still serve their utility purpose.

My ultimate would be a lone SST on an Island, but I'm dreaming of course.

Outside of that, any structure placed in a forest with no others visible onscreen makes me jealous :)
Thats the Role Player in me, having come from a hardcore RP background where we had an entire "Glade" (altho seaside easterly). Ahhh...

Jimmy, was that the Grey Company on Lake Superior that you're talking about? If not, the Tel'Mithrim was another community that had a Glade of lone houses, or small clusters of houses in a relative area, think it was way Northeast of Vesper.

Really good memories of RPing with those guys, that was quite a long time ago.

Lone 2 Story Villa, here. My absolute favorite.

    Exactly correct :)
Well, except the location. It wasnt Vesper. East of Yew Moongate is where Tel'Ruid (The Glade) still sits.

    Anga Alda,
    Elear tel'Taur,
    Tel'Mithrim

    At your service.

    That's amazing!

There was a wood elf named Silmalas that would travel through every once in a while, stop by the Silver Arrow for a drink and a chat, and then make his way back out of the Glade carefully as to not disturb the drow elves that stalked about.

That was a very good time to be playing, some of my fondest memories of UO, when I found you guys. Wasn't too long after discovering your community that I was no longer able to play for a good long while.

Did any other members make it to UOR with you?

Ugh. The drow sargtlin caused mayhem. Anga himself was wounded grievously by one.

Do you recall a SST that sat next to the Silver Arrow? That was my residence before I had to take my leave.

I also played the Lady Christina Tyrak, who herself with a few minions caused their own mischief in The Glade.

Alas I don't remember Silmalas. Although the communkty was very active, we had a lot of visitors!

It was only late last year that I was sad to see www.grey-company.org finally go down.

I've been meaning to write a tale for UO:R to get a glimpse at what once was.

Regarding other Tel'Mithrim members, no... there no others. Or if there are, they're keeping hidden in the woods!

That is very unfortunate about their website. Used to go there quite a bit. I especially enjoyed the stories and character guide of the Bladesingers. Was pretty epic!

I doubt I would have been remembered by anyone there to be honest as I was part of the usual traffic. Man that place was great though... always buzzing with energy, people coming and going, the glade being attacked, defenders rushing out to meet the battle.

Glad at least one of you made it here, this shard is truly a testament to that era, for good or ill. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Had plenty of primary homes for different things like, restock, storage, mining or close to town. I will come across a lot of locations where I'd like to have a home, or see a house design I never had. L shape, patio and log cabin are some I never had. I have had a Tower and large brick but didn't use them, just temporary. I would love to have a Papua style home in the swamps of T2A I'd accept 1 house per acct to own one.

The absolute ideal would be an island with a mining cave, a forest, and no other player houses on the island.

Of course I don't think any spot like that even exists. Currently have two main homes, a small tower just outside moonglow and a log cabin on the coast between wind and wrong. I never really liked log cabins just looking at them, but it's kind of growing on me now that I have one.

Cabins near any Orc Fort. Cabins are great because you have that balcony where you can display the heads of your “sacrificed” humans as well as raining arrows down upon foes. The cabins simple design makes it easier for the average orc to do whatever needs to be done with more than enough space for body parts storage for the making of an orcs favorite food “JERKY”

TBH If keeps weren't exhausting to navigate through, i'd say keeps for sure. I LOOOOOVE my fort, and I started loving it more when i use only the first floor of it. I'll probably just deco the other floors over time but may never do stuff in them.

and i hear your pain about the doors @Earsnot
can't deco each side the same because of more tiles going west from the doors. grr

Ooh house discussion where I may praise all of the glory that is a Large Patio!

Home: has always been the largest house I own, but this time around I opted for a secluded villa to decorate as a sweet spot with my lady, nice neighbors aswell as a desirable location, whether for crafting/hunting or low monster spawns.

Large Patio is the best house in the game period. Being able to secure your loot fast by using the fence and then moving items from fence, easy way to guarantee the shady folk won't take your stuff if they gate hop. Large Patio may loot inside or outside, ability to put items on fence if friended and thus secure items inside and being able to set a path to walk over the fence if you like quick access out of your Patio.

The look is cool and functional for securities.

As long as I have my patio I am happy + gaining profit.

The patio usefulness pays back tenfold any price paid for the location.

I love these kinds of threads!

My absolute favorite house is a small stone tower.
The first floor Is the crafting/restock/Loot-dump area. The second floor is my lounge/Macro area. The top floor was for displaying stacks of 60k gold and gardening.
Ive tried some of the bigger houses and theyre great and all, but I find myself just living in one room of the house just for convenience sake.
The small stone tower is perfect. MAYBE a second small house on the side for a storage shed, but it has to be close enough so I can refresh it from my tower...

My houses ALWAYS decay in the summer because I forget about them. I usually never get to the point to where i need a second house for storage!! :)

Love my log cabin! I was very fortunate to find this open spot right next to Trinsic Outer Wall. The Bank, Stables, Mage Shop, Prov. Shop, and Gate are all just a dash away.
I followed the Wall guidelines to protect my items in housing 101 and still have a long enough Interior to utilize efficiently, decorate cleanly, and macro safely. cabin.png
