Jholem Bulls PKing

just want to point out that there are not enough bulls to go around. If there were, there would be a great deal less friction at the pits. Even 1 pit all to yourself leaves your tamer with time not spent actively taming bulls, especially as you get higher in skill. Add in other tamers and there is bound to be competition for the limited bulls.

It may not seem like it right now, but after you get your GM taming you will likely laugh about the "good old days at Jhelom bulls". As a glutton for punishment I not only made a 6th tamer, but I converted my main (Leopold) into a tamer on top of that, so it was even more embarrassing/awkward/funny/whatever to die there.

I've speculated in other threads why this happens, but regardless of their motives, it's very unlikely that it will stop happening as long as the server stays up (hopefully for at least another 30 years). The good news is that to my knowledge there has never been anyone determined to GM taming and failed to do (AFK) within a few weeks unless they gave up. The Jhelom pests (they don't deserve to share the same title as a distinguished PK like @Skunk Ape) will slow you down but they will not be able to stop you. And then once you are at GM, you can say, in your best Borat Accent: "I get the GM tamigz. I am very excite. It's a mine. It very nice, I like it. You can't have it back."

Plus I suspect Christmas is probably a good time to train b/c everyone should be out frantically killing Christmas MOBs anyway.

Yeah like I said I sort of expected it. Really didn't know it was that much of an issue though lol. Never made a tamer back in the day or any other free shards I've played on. But wanted to give disco/tamer a shot.

Really didn't expect this much of a response to a "new commer" only been playing UOR for about a month and a half or so trying to really figure what I want to do. Just mindlessly building characters and farming for now.

You can include in your macro to auto give out a count to people who kill you, tab in and out of war mode so your visible when dead, accept resses from people, and continue taming. You can even have it spam guild chat when you die. Then you just need some friends to come res you randomly, you can offer them the same as they work on their tamers.

Ive also partied up my tamer at jhelom before so i can get a party message when he dies. Leave your char doing something else, and when you see the party message, you know to go kill the person because the timing is instant.

Theres alot of options. take your time and think about the mechanics.

Yeah I thought of taking my healer there. And res every 5-10 mins but knowing my luck he'd just get offed too since 0 hiding

I may consider the war mode and accept rezing. Probably my best option as of now. Thanks for that sugesugges! But for now I'll just play the taming war and do what I gotta do

It's a rite of passage - embrace it and move on. And no-one in the pens cars for anyone else.

I spent very little time in the pens as I decided to play the game - that was my personal view and dont expect you to do the same. Have fun, its a great server.

I ended up training in the field for a lot of my tamer's training. Bulls seemed really slow even when not being PK'd. Yeah, yeah, I know, actually playing the game, the horror.

Post a self res taming macro
Create a new character
Name it The Jhelom Resetter
Train appropriate skills
Monitor the pen day and night
Res the fallen
Reset the setup with fresh snakes
Brood atop the barn, cape flapping in the night
Create comic book of your adventures
Sell soul to Sony movie adaptation deal
Move to Mediterranean
Get fat on beach sipping mimosas and horchata

Don’t let it get to you bro. Then pens brings out the worst in ppl. Just keep rezing and eventually you will be there.
While it’s running play another char.
Sometimes you can go a whole night untouched. Sometimes you don’t last 5 mins. It is what it is. But don’t let that reflect the shard. Ppl loose there minds there. It’s a terrible place. But like noted hear. It is afk so it’s still easier then grinding it out.

Naw definitely wont ruin my experience or reflect on the shard. I know how UO is...wish more games were as unforgiving as old UO was.

Used to kill Bart's tamer there, was great fun. Why should we respect your afk macroing again?

Getting murdered at the pens is half the fun of making a tamer. Spices up the monotony a little bit. I only like the murderers who will banter with you though. There are plenty of wandering healers around so it's not like it's some big deal to start up again post-murder.

The Jhelom Pk is so 2016. The real terror of the pens now is the Jhelom Ripper.
