First, I am sorry if my wording was too agressive... I didn't want to derail the sale, in contrast, I wanted to keep it clean and safe, so that no long drama thread evolves... I guess, mission failed. Even if I am wrong in this case and react way too harsh and without much thought (I am willing to admit that), that could have been prevented. So much shit has happened in forums before, and some vet friend could explain that a introductory sentence might make sense... Anyway, I think I will try to slow down on accusations in future, but I don't think that such stuff going unaddressed is healthy for the trade forum. Erza, this is explicitly NOT allowed as long as you already have established forum accounts. And you know yourself, that mods can't do anything vs VPNs. And the history of mod involvement isn't speaking for our mods tbh. So many bullshit trades have gone through because there was no "100% proof", even when dozens of people were complaining... @Ragnar Lothbrok it is also EXPLICITLY not allowed to bid for other people. So all this confusion was not really necessary... the Nostradamus player could have placed his bids in the first place. This is the most drama I have ever had while selling one of my mining houses! I know a lot has happened with auctions in the past so I do understand the above. however lets keep on track, 2.5m is the current bid going to the newly returning @Nostradamus this auction will run for 48 hours after last bid, so enough time for everyone to have the chance to check out this place. its a short walk north from Brit Graveyard. this really is an amazing house... maybe I should keep it?
I am really hoping this auction is on the up and up. It is suspicious that a person with zero posts on forum appeared to bid on this. Especially considering that people don't like to part with gold these days and the market has been down. This mining house is definitely at a premium selling price. If I win it, I know I will not recover the cost in the future if it goes to market again. @Chris would be nice if you could do an IP check on Nostradamus Oh well, its only gold. 3m
Maybe a new rule that needs to be posted for high demand auctions should be. Requirement - Forum account must be X amount old.

Another suspicious move, and right after the suggestion of an IP check. I feel like any serious buyer honestly willing to throw down 2.5 mil would not do this. If this is not the case Nos, I honestly apologize - but to be so angry of the thought of suspicion is odd behavior for someone doing nothing wrong.

@Ragnar Lothbrok you know the respect I have for you. You also are aware that I am a fairly new member here myself. I think ANY time a new forum account is created and used for auctions it is going to raise a red flag and questions. So I can understand the original concern, however there were 2 faults that follow after the accusation. The first fault was not letting the issue go and still voicing concern when you cleared it up to the thread who he was. The second fault was how your friend handled himself with the accusation. Dropping F bombs at established members is not a good way to prove your legitimacy. I don't care whos friend you are. I've only been around here since October and forum account of December and would still not consider myself established. Maybe @BlackEye should have voiced his concern via PM to Sam and/or Chris before publically accusing. But all-and-all to say this community is toxic is false. I think the community as a whole is pretty upstanding and awesome. We all have our bad apples and our rivals etc etc. But as a whole, we are far superior to other communities out there.
If your suspicions are that strong, bow out, let the supposed "upbidder" win, scout the plot's area for player activity post sale for a considerable amount of time. It's pretty easy to do especially on an overland site. Confirm your suspicions. m f'n potato
You know when you login to the forums and see a load of notifications and you hope that your auctions have blown up and you might be making some money again? ...And then to only see more forum shit being tossed from about and it's ruined your action... I thought this was all sorted out about 12 hours ago?! So a Recap. @Ragnar Lothbrok is a well established player with some cash. he has a buddy @Nostradamus that he wants to entice to play on UO:R so has obviously said he would buy my mining house. Nostadamus has placed his own bid and after being questioned by the community has come out as Ragnars buddy auction gets derailed with accusations of people being other people and stuff. more stuff I don't care about. all gets settled, and we resume auction. more shit. happened. and then here we are. I would ask for this to be cleaned up, but the damage has been done. truth be known, I would rather sell this place to a new person, this server needs all the new players it can get! I also don't see why it would matter who this new guy is as Ragnar has stated that its actually his bank that's paying and therefore his reputation and from the sounds of it @Nostradamus has been put off by it all. (I know there is a joke about he probably knew this was going to happen) I am not sure if I am being accused of something or not. I buy and sell houses. special houses.
