I am a new player. I don't know what happened - I was herding the cows and pigs at the stable in the new player town, and suddenly I died. The healer wouldn't resurrect me initially, because he said I was a criminal. A few minutes later, he resurrected me. Then I died immediately, again. I can't see who or what is killing me. A friend who was logged in said I was being struck by lightning by town guards. Whenever I die, the healer calls me a criminal, and I have to wait several minutes before being raised, only to die within the next minute or so. I never, ever, see anyone standing around me when I die. The worst part of it is, why am I being called a criminal? I didn't attack anyone or do anything illegal (as far as I know). I was only herding at the stables because the new player guide on this website suggested it. Does anyone have any ideas? I have been unable to play for the entire day because every time I try to raise, I am killed again.
Only thing I can think of is that you are in war mode and double clicking something you shouldn't be.. I'm unaware of a situation where you would get guard wacked due to herding onto an NPC of anything like that.
That's a possibility, I guess, but would assaulting someone (whether accidentally or not) confine me to permanent death? It's not as though I've killed anyone.
The guards in Sosaria are brutal - it would get you killed. Attacking someone will trigger nearby NPCs to call the guards on you.
So... what is my option? Make a new character? And why are the guards in the New Player town so brutal? ._.

Just wanted to say that this player did come ask for help in irc, three people watched him at the Occlo healers and he was able to res blue but die as a criminal shortly afterwords. I don't have any good explanation. There were no attackable NPC's in range, he was young so I assume he did not attack any player characters either. He did not steal, he did not enter war mode. I really don't know what happened to him. When he would get guardwhacked his body would be grey. But he was blue up until the instant he got whacked. No idea what the deal is.
WOW. That's freaky. Does it happened with all your characters? Make sure you PM Telamon in IRC and show him.
As silly as this sounds was he practicing taming and sicked his pets on a wandering healer? Sometimes after they kill a few they ignore one of the pets but it will continually reflag you grey.
It was something similar to this. Usually when you provoke two animals then tame them where they cant get to each other, or someone else tames one of them. It can constantly reflag you grey.
I am currently experiencing this problem. i just got to GM tailoring and was standing at occlo bank making a bone suit for my dexxer when i get guard whacked for no reason and now it just doesnt stop
