As a proud first homeowner (as of today), I am curious about item decay in houses, where items are not locked down or secured. Before owning a house, I was co-owned to a house so I could train in peace. I have noticed that there are a bunch of items in this house, that are not locked down or secure, and they do not appear to decay. Can someone confirm the rules on such items? I didn't start playing UO until 2000 on OSI servers, and from memory, items left unlocked would decay and vanish back then.
Items do not decay in houses if not locked down. House decay in houses was a later addition to control item counts on OSI. Items on boat decks will decay.
Thank you, and that's news to me. Makes the low lock down count mean I can use it for decorating rather than item storage.
So long as you practice house safety! Good locking habits, Detect Hidden and Table walls. Never underestimate the griefers
PS - I love how detect hidden shows which doors are locked and unlocked. That really helps someone like myself who is prone to getting distracted
Am I the only one who doesn't use table walls? I just always double check detect hidden after I enter. (smaller houses)
I too like to err on the side of danger. Table walls are ugly. But unlike RL, I keep my doors locked in UO. Maybe that's why my house was looted a few years ago? Anyone have a decent real life table wall they could show me?
