In my case, 48/24 = single/multi or 1st bid / 2nd+ bid. I have always assumed other auctions intended the same even when they put 24/48. I'm pretty sure it used to be pretty common to interchange 48/24 and 24/48 with the same intent, and still appears to happen from time to time, see examples:

Not going to bother going too deep into this nonsense. The 24/48 rules are intended to incentivize buyers bidding and auctioneers selling. Flipping to 24 hours single bid and 48 hours multi bid makes NO sense as there's no benefit to either party. 24/24 or 48/48 at least makes some sense at the seller's discretion:

Think about the logic behind the rules, there's really not much to discuss. As posted in sticky:

24hr rule = High bid has to stand unchallenged for 24 hours. if someone out bids it within that 24hrs, the clock restarts.
48hr rule = High bid has to stand unchallenged for 48 hours. if someone out bids it within that 48hrs, the clock restarts.

    Tips/Tricks
Most auctions will say 48hr if one bidder, 24hr if more than one. That gives 48hrs for as many to see the auction as possible as we are NOT all sitting around our screens waiting on an auction to magically appear. After 2 bidders, auctioneers do not want to wait forever for the auction to end so they switch to 24hr rule.

From what I can tell the ONLY scenario where reversed values would prove helpful is for the troll last minute bidders to drag an auction out forever. If you'd like to try and explain how flipping these values would help in an auction scenario feel free, but I'd ask not to on this already completed auction thread. Arguing on the technicality of 24/48 vs 48/24 is silly, again the reverse values don't provide any benefit to either party.

    Happy hunting!

24/48 48/24 has been confused by new and old players alike. Stating that "everyone knows that when people say 24/48 they really mean 48/24" simply isn't true. Over the years I've seen confusion in auctions many, many times. In one auction I ran I posted 24/48 when meaning 48/24. The bidders differed in their understanding of the timer, as in this auction. I resolved it after talking to both parties then deciding (and posting) that the last bid stands (given the confusion) - 24hr timer starts now. I made another few 100k from the auction and both bidders were satisfied since it was the fair thing to do given the confusion which is apparently ongoing issue.

I figured out your guys 24/48 rules after a week on these forums. You are either fishing or a imbecile if you dont know what and why the 48/24 timer exists.

My take is the first numbers represent the first bid timer. The second set is after the last bid. 48/24 meaning 48 hours after the first bid. That gives enough time for others to bid as well, otherwise its a bidders market and the seller loses out of the first bid timer is too short.

There is no official rule though. However, If it can't be resolved and it doesn't seem it can be, why not relist it and start the bidding over? That seems fair for everyone. But perhaps clarification is required on the timer.
