Personally I absolutely adore Unicorns....but practically I don't believe they would be a good fit for UOR...Simply because you need to be a tamer (if I remember correctly) to even ride one... Most of my ladies are hunters or work in the crafts. Granted not all of the females in UOR are like me...but, is there enough female character tamers to justify Unicorns? I think most of them tend to want Nightmares, since they are more powerful.
I would opt for a Unicorn Ethy....:)

As for Nightmare spawns, I believe we already have three spawn areas for them...Nightmares where never suppose to be easy to obtain....

Overland spawns in T2A... I would like to see more of them...but not just champ related...I think a verity of spawns would be better...with a few having the potential to spawn a boss.

Thanks for the thread...a good one

I really like the t2a overland suggestions. It'd be nice to have additional hunting spots since the good spots in the old world can be busy.

One of the things I've always wanted to see in UO is the range of hues for things like dragons, horses, etc...expanded. It never made sense to me why the developers so limited the range of hues for everything.

For horses, though, I firmly believe that having a much wider range of natural hues would be great. Perhaps have certain hues spawn in certain regions and add some lore to it with horse breeder NPCs tending to them.

Can overland spawns change with the seasons, so it isn't the same thing year after year? Once a quarter have the spawns change up? Maybe more or less of a certain spawn?

I believe UO was supposed to have a dynamic spawn element, where if you hunted too much of one thing it impacted others. Well, we don't have to go that detailed... but say Ophidians are less active during the winter months, or Imps migrate south and it is mating season, watch out!

That was intended mechanics on launch I believe. Like predatory animals would take over areas if they weren't culled, etc.

Another one of those cool features that got axed when they realized how the human race actually behaves. . .

Wow...my little pea brain is racing . lol

I remember way back when the white/silver horse was introduced to UO. Could get them through the regular stable animal tamer npc. But was a random thing.. Players went absolutely crazy over them...Wanted these horses for like all their guildmates could ride same colored horse, etc.

I think some of the new hued horses should be through the npc animal tamer....random drop etc. with the super rare ones spawning in the wild.
This would give even newer players a chance to have one.

I lean more to the idea of the real life colors introduced. White horses with black manes and tails, pintos, appys, the red hues. Not sure how much would be involved with coding or if even possible...But we already have the buckskin type horse, light brown with darker mane.

Also think the mixing up the world spawns now and than would be great. Not just in T2A, but regular lands as well.
One of the fun parts of UO of yesteryear was roaming the country side, not knowing what you would run into...By mixing up the spawns, this would give a little of that feel back into game.

Again thanks for the great thread.

Some Artwork Ideas to go along with the proposed hue changes. Threw these together REALLY quick just as a quick and dirty example.

The new horses would be a very cool and seemingly easy addition that would do nothing for combat, but a lot for ascetics and character customization!

It very well could be just the skins that Lightshade hastily loaded up, but I am digging all of them except the saddlebred; seems too bright and orangish.

Saddlebred could use some tweaking...almost looks like a Fire Steed.

    Saddlebred definitely looks stupid.
    Otherwise, seems pretty legit.

Aye. And I can also see the friesian being too similar to a nightmare and how that might, hmm, undercut the coolness of the mare? But it might not; just speculating.

The saddlebred does indeed look too much like a fire steed, but I am sure it can/could be tweaked enough to be shown as a light brown.

Hows does this shard feel about actual saddles on mounts as a plat reward option?

Only if they have bags and can be used as ridable pack animals!

As for the similarity to a mare, it would be a nice consolation for those who were once accustomed to riding mares on their non-tamers, for style points in prior eras/shards.

I would very much support this. Its frustrating to have pack animals out in the wild/your house, that end up going wild when you have to log out for a bit, and then you either get someone to retame and xfer them, or just buy a new one, bring it back to your gathering house, and know it will eventually happen again.

Also, I think it would add a new dynamic element to farming and the risk involved. For those who would venture out into the wild with their pack mount to carry more loot, they would be a bigger target for pks (blue and red) because, hey, what does that guy have in his pack mount! I must know!! Also, thieves.
