    Looking to pay some clever person 1,000,000 gold if they manage to figure out a way to get players in and out of all areas of a fortress without using the courtyard.

    [IMG]

    Specifically, a way to get from #1 to #2. I think it's impossible, because that little ridge wall is 6z, and the "ceiling" of this floor of the fort is 20z, leaving only 14z available to pass through, and a player is 16z high. But, I know there are many clever people out there so I'd love to see if anyone can solve this.

    Alternatively, a way to go from the front steps outside the fortress to the floor above could win the prize:

    I want to make the fortress accessible in all areas, without ever letting anyone step foot in the courtyard.

    Gold to be paid upon successful implementation of your method in my fort.

    Thanks :)

    To answer one question so far: a tower cannot fit next to it, so bridging won't work.

    I doubt it's possible to get from front steps to the 2nd floor. Even by using a clever system of ladders and stools, it just doesn't look like enough room.

    But for 1M you bet your white ass I'm gonna try.

    Yeah, I haven't been able to figure out a way, because you can't seem to place ladders on front steps at all. (You can on tower front steps because they are 2 tiles deep so you put them on the outside row of tiles).

    No, this would be for a public house (rune library). Though I am intrigued!

    spent a bit on this. foot stools dont work cause you cant raise higher than 4 before you cannot walk on them. table tops you cannot walk on top of at any height, ladders cannot be placed inside or on the steps. tried to max the height on a tile and lock down to walk on inside. that was a no go. i did place a ladder on top and walked off to the outside!

    Yeah, I think the ladder route has the most promise, but not being able to put it on the front steps is the issue I've run into so far. I wonder if there is some hackery that can make that happen though. I'm usually not good at finding this type of stuff, but I know other people are!

    Why don't you just disable the courtyard? Problem solved. Where do I collect?

    It's not just about recalling into the courtyard, I want people to be completely unable to step foot in the courtyard (even by walking into it), but still be able to go around the rest of the fortress.

    Can you place the ladder "above" the steps by raising your character up and then foot stools up to that point?

    Can you lock down items on a ladder? I'm thinking of having three ladders side by side and then having the walking path be on the center ladder, and items locked down on the other two ladders to act as a barrier from walking off of the path. The path would basically go from the CY entrance doors from the front entrance, to the roof of the fortress.

    If items cannot be locked down on ladders, can you use three ladders and then place the outer ones at a slightly different height to make them unable to be walked onto from the center ladder (walking path)?

    B= barrier
    W= walking path

    B ladders would be raised higher (or placed higher) than W ladder. Entrances to B ladders would be blocked off, only allowing people to walk up W ladder while being unable to deviate from W ladder because B ladders create an impassable barrier.

    I'm at work and cannot test this, but can someone go for it? If it works, I'll donate the money to the Dec fishing tourny. I'm really not that confident it will though...

    Faber, you can do that (or, you could, with Courtyard Lockdown Deeds), but that would still allow for people to walk through the courtyard. I am trying to avoid letting them onto any Courtyard tile, at any elevation.

    In fact, your idea works really well and you could make a stool ramp from the entryway of fort, ramping up over the CY, and into the window on the second floor. But players would still be walking through the courtyard during that, which is what I am trying to avoid. Would be useful if the "main" area if your fort is on that second floor though.

    They wouldn't be able to enter the grass area of the courtyard if they couldn't step off of the ladder/footstool walk way. You can lock down items on the steps to block side access to the grass area of the cy nearest the steps. The only open point would directly lead them to a ladder/footstool.

    I don't know if this could work within the mechanics of the game, but my idea should allow you to avoid having anyone step into the grass area of the courtyard; it does, however, allow them to step on the steps of your courtyard entrance, but they shouldn't be able to leave the steps unless they're on the walking path rising to the higher levels of the fortress.

    EDIT: Ahhhhhh, I just saw that you don't want them to even hover above your CY. I hear you. My idea doesn't give you what you want then.

    Can you lock down a footstool and lower it beneath the ground level using a deco tool? I know that you can lower items locked down on the steps of a house beneath the steps. Can you do this inside of a house?
