Nigel Marblesdust is a dwarf from a long line of dwarven battle-miners. His mother was a battle-miner, her father was a battle-miner, his father was a was a battle-miner, and it likely goes back even farther than that. Nigel's ancestors have been battling ore elementals for many generations. To be anything but a miner had never occurred to Nigel. Nigel is an excellent miner; most dwarves have the natural inclination to mine. Nigel had always wanted to live up to his family name. He tried his best to learn the skills and tactics that he would require to crush ore elementals, but he came up lacking. Nigel was just not very good with weapons. He tried the axe, the spear, the sword, the war hammer, even the bow. All of these weapons he could wield, his strength was not lacking, he simply couldn't hit his opponents correctly. Even the stationary training dummy proved too elusive for Nigel. So the years rolled on and Nigel became greyer. He spent many months tinkering away in his workshop every year. Over the decades, he had given up becoming a great battle-miner. He had worked and worked at being a useful, contributing member of dwarf society. Nigel practiced the magical arts, something many dwarves were not comfortable doing, and quite frankly something many dwarves were simply not interested in doing. He tamed llamas. He gated the other dwarves around. He made tools. He still mined as his ancestors had before him, but if there were ore elementals to be fought, he always brought a friend.
