Woot! Woot! Thumbs up! Yippie!...hic! How about friends reading "books" that are locked down? EDIT: Oops, I should read better. I tend to look at pictures and guestimate. "This list does not include the variety of bug fixes and balancing common in each patch so don't worry if you think something is missing."
There's an important point missing in the list. - Revising the removal of guild chat from razor Another "issues" that has been over-fixed is the ability to copy locked down keys. Maybe it makes sense to prevent this in private homes but copying of locked down keys in PUBLIC houses should be allowed to anyone.
I'm just not seeing any good reason to change the guild chat back to a system message but perhaps you could enlighten us. As for key copying, that's interesting but I'm also not sure the relevance of such a function. I've never copied a locked down key but I'm assuming this has something to do with boats?
I've been using guild chat in a lot of macros. It's a major annoyance to have it removed for no real benefit and then having to argue why the original state was better. I don't see any reason why this should have been removed in the first place. Before you start telling me how I am supposed to play this game and i've been doing it wrong all the time, please keep in mind this is a sandbox game and razor is officially part of the game. As for copying keys, I would like to allow strangers to make copies of keys for a couple of locked down boxes with different tinker-skill locks on them. Noobs could GM lockpicking without having to buy a set of training chests, just the cost of four keys. And picks of course.
The key copying thing sounds pretty cool. Enabling or encouraging the ability to actually play multi-account is nothing I'll ever get behind. There's no "sandbox" argument you could ever make that will make me think it's a good idea. Yes, I understand it's a major annoyance for people who don't want to be hassled cooperating with others in an MMO to accomplish tasks that require multiple parties. Never going to be sorry that's not working out for you and will always be ready to argue against it, should it ever get on the table. Cheers.
It's ridiculous ... game features get patched out after some private complaints / accusations with no explanation and no proof anything was accomplished by these patches. Instead of revising this patch, I'm now that fool that starts arguing why it was better before ? That's real crap. I keep getting smacked in the face by hasty hotfixes and spend days arguing why those spontaneous nerfs are seriously affecting my game play. I once had the impression that changes like the "monster loot containers" from Patch 52 (??) were a step towards allowing more powerful 3rd party apps because their most-feared feature (auto-loot) was put out of service. Instead, advanced macoring got crippled beyond recognition in the last couple of patches. There's frequently players in main IRC wondering why all their macros stopped working. If there was at least some kind of public policy on macroing here, preventing other new players from making the same mistake and getting established on a server where core macroing mechanics get patched out of the game with no explanation at all. What's written about macroing in the FAQ/Server rules here is pretty outdated by now.
Heh I'd rather see locked down books being able to be read by anyone, just not editable unless it's unlocked, else have access levels when locking a book down to set who can view the contents. Or even perhaps (as in ea/osi) the use of those red leaves to 'set' the ink in the book, so it can't be edited (or perhaps, only editable by the original author?). Can't wait for the alliances to get added in, as well as the bods and new craftables, but Hallowe'en looks like it'll be fun =P Dyed runes would be nice too for the trammie in all of us to easily seperate safe/hot runes in a mixed book by the colour of the text..... Keep up th good work Tela, can't wait to see what you're cooking up for the achievements/rewards =P Will they be linked to the account / trio of accounts, or just that one character?
I honestly don't know or care specifically why they were patched out. I heard a handful of assumptions but honestly, whatever. ZOMG, can't gate yourself around by guild chat, can't synch by guild chat, can't blah blah by guild chat. You could just go play the game and stop getting upset that Razor can't play (as much of) it for you anymore. However, we have a great many choices here and you have chosen to be opposed to actual game play in lieu of automation. That is perfectly fine, I just can't support it or agree with it. It is a step towards potentially allowing other apps, I guess, but I highly doubt that was the intention. More like it was crimping the effectiveness of certain third party applications and changes that also impact Razor are good for the game, in the opinion of some. While that opinion may not be shared by everyone, that is valid and not only my opinion. Macros still work fine and if you look at one of the prominent Recall Miners on the shard (Basoosh) he said it took minimal tweaking to adjust his macros to suit the new changes. Regardless, if players come here wanting to full auto certain things, it will be a challenge. The public policy is that you can't AFK resource gather. If other macros were broken as a result of guild chat no longer being a system message, oh well. Go figure out how to do it another way, just like you did when you learned to make Razor do it for you.[/quote]
Some cool new features, but any chance you could do something with the actual guild button? Like if you click on it, it will show you a list of people who are online, it would also be good to be able to PM those people in game.
no copying of locked down keys... That would enable folks to lock or unlock my doors.... and yes the house is public with keys to the doors that work...
Great going. Specially town addition. I just love games which includes renaissance dresses and weapons.
Greetings and salutations. There is something a tad strange with having so many complex changes even to the UI, a lot of automatic activity organizers, craftables and special housing goods for special coin.... To then not have trapped locks, chests, crates, doors and so forth. Not being able to open a sealed book with a red leaf on display. Not being able to copy keys if they are left alone and on display. To argue or debate that they are more important than core game mechanics and that everyone on the team does not and will not follow a development plan is insane, I must say.
It would be great if you add a BOD system for other crafting skills like tinkering, bowcrafting, scribe, alchemy...
