I'm sure I don't need to tell you the journal can be hard to read. Well, that is a thing of the past, because we're going to change that! Final journal look: (note: you should always make a backup of any mul files you modify in case something goes wrong) Lets begin! To modify your mul files, you will need the following: Mulpatcher (download) Modified journal art (download) To begin, open a new folder and place mulpatcher.exe inside. Extract the journal art inside this folder. Fire up mulpatcher and open up your gump (gumpart.mul and gumpidx.mul) files (using the "..." buttons), then click "Load" Head over to the "Features" tab and in the "Autopatch" section, click the "..." button and navigate to the text file inside the journal art folder. Then, select "Gumps" from the dropdown menu and hit "Start". After receiving patch confirmation, head back to the "Settings" tab and under the "Gumps" section click "Save". First enter "gumpidx.mul" (no quotes) and hit save, then enter "gumpart.mul" (no quotes) and hit save. Next, copy the modified mul files back into your Ultima Online folder and load the game. Enjoy!
Think this is broken now, I tried it and the game client would crash afterwards. Perhaps I did something wrong but I was able to follow the instructions step by step. Just make sure to make backups of the .mul files if you try this in 2017. EDIT: Worked in another attempt. Thanks for the mod!
