Re: Runebook system and why it MUST be changed. What is the difference between keeping a library at your house or in your bank box? Rune libraries help people save time going around marking spots so they can use that time to ACTUALLY PLAY the game. I see no imbalance existing and for your information, I care a whole lot about my library and only because it is available for the shard to use. If it was just in my bank box I wouldn't care at all. This is called Trammel, people play here specifically to avoid this kind of catering to the lazy. If you want a blessed rune book, gather up 250 platinum and its yours. Almost all my warriors have magery and are able to recall. Those who do not, are not built for traveling and exploring. My crafter/merchant always carries a runebook and is free to travel with as much ease as the most powerful mage in Britannia. To summarize: While your ideas are creative and interesting, they don't make a compelling argument for changing the current recall / runebook system. The game is fun because some things are hard and dangerous, if we start blessing runebooks for everyone soon enough there will be no killing outside town and no stealing and no house looting. Hmm that sounds familiar..... I vote to leave things the way they are! (possibly change it so that runebooks can be accessed when locked down in private houses not just public)
Re: Runebook system and why it MUST be changed. I agree with Wise(one), especially on the part where he wants runebooks to be usable even while locked down in private houses. Really though, the ONLY reason runebooks were added in the first place, was to reduce item-count in the world. It was later that they blessed them etc. People function perfectly fine without them, and they are already trammel enough, with their quasi no-steal policy. You have to play the lottery if you want to steal one ;/
Re: Runebook system and why it MUST be changed. I stopped here... no. P.S. : Mandevu is going to rip you a new asshole in 3...2...1...
Re: Runebook system and why it MUST be changed. While I appreciate you putting effort into this post, I stopped reading this as soon as I saw this line. Before you were here, many of us searched and roamed the lands marking runebooks so that we could provide a service to the rest of the shard (runebook libraries). Also having noobied runebooks makes scribes less useful, as everyone can just carry around 10 runebooks on them and never lose them, i.e. no reason to buy more runebooks. Also if you look at the platinum reward system here, you can get a blessed runebook for 250 platinum coins, your idea would make that uselsss. Another thing I would like to note is that we don't "teleport" to rune locations, we "recall" to them. In the end, my opinion is that noobied runebooks reak of trammel. Go ahead and give my guild the ability to have 15 runebooks on each of us at any given time, and good luck running away from us in pvp. We could simply just "recall" right ahead of where you are running, while chasing you from behind. *ahhh... the good ole days of cutoff runebooks*
Re: Runebook system and why it MUST be changed. Okay, guys! I agree with you. BUT What about making runebook charges? Making it a bit easier for people with 0 magery! It would be really great for warriors to tp with 100% chance using runebook charge.
The original post had some interesting insight, its too bad you removed it all. The part about runebook durability for example was quite fascinating. Would definitely help out scribes if not locked down runebooks wore out with use. Once 'the pages fall apart' you could get the runes to all drop in the pack or something. Possibly repair with blank scrolls and inscribing. Just throwing ideas around
Yeah. I did read all of the original post and I kinda liked the durability idea. . . Just as long as we as aren't taking away the ability of rune library proprietors to devote their time and money to benefit others.
Hmmm, rune books are chargeable , why they have, believe, up to 10 charges per book. You just drop recall scrolls on the books, than even a warrior can click on the little dot on index page and go....not have to flip through the book to recall off the recall icon on the city page. Granted this does not work with rune library books, but can still carry a recall scroll and flip through page to city. I believe this holds true on this server as well, you can cast a spell using a scroll one level above your magic skill level A warrior with low magic skill can cast recall from a scroll.. My advice about traveling is always carry at least one town rune with you and one recall scroll. Thanks for the input and ideas... Westra p.s. I am thankful that we have recall. It wasn't always in game. Was added as a quick exit from lower dungeon levels, the staff could always take it out. lol
My first post/addition to this forum: Everytime I hear recalling referred to as "teleporting" I want to punch myself in the face. C'mon man!
Yeah, I'm kinda with you on that. Or 'portal', an obv reference to Diablo's town portal. Get with the times man!!!
