Please... please... please do not edit/blank out your auctions once finished. Going to an old post after using the forum search function for an item and finding the OP blank is understandable as you likely wish to signify that the auction is over. Perhaps instead simply add "auction over" to the first line of the post and leaving the rest (including the title.. please leave the item(s) sold in the title)? While it's certainly not always accurate, closed auctions can be a valuable resource to track, trend, and estimate value of items. It's kinda the reason I do all my trades in game these days Also, After much research it is confirmed. Platinum coins are presently valued at 3999 gold each. Make Trade Forum great again! Thank you,
I agree! It also, especially as a returning player, is a good way to know what's hot and whats not. I have no idea whats worth what anymore so instead of pestering everyone in Irc like i did the first night Ive been lurking around in the forums
I completely agree! Honestly, I've never understood this behaviour. It takes what should be a valuable tool for gauging the market for an item, and renders it useless. And, quite frankly, it strikes me as lazy and shoddy. There are any number of more appropriate and helpful ways to signify an auction or sale has closed. Below I have included a link to an example of how I signify the closure of my own sales/auctions: http://uorforum.com/threads/sold-hue-1150-cloth-20-yards-auction.21346/#post-198713 Of course everyone has their own style, but simply deleting everything in a post is very poor style, and poor form to boot, unless one is extremely pressed for time.
Totally agree. Whenever I'm selling something or thinking of bidding on something and I don't know the value of it I use the forums to try to find info on it's value. For people selling stuff, just edit the title with "SOLD" and edit the original post to mention that it's sold while leaving all the relevant information in the post (like what it sold for, starting bid, buyout, etc). That way people can see what it sold for if they're searching the forums later.
Definitely agree. For those of us who are new and unfamiliar with the shard economy, info about what's sold for how much is very helpful.
I agree, but I also think it doesn't matter much. People will pay what they think it's worth and they can afford. Some cloth sold for under 1m 3 months ago and I got it recently for several million, not a big deal. I probably overpaid but it was worth it to me.
