Bard Archer

    I've always liked Bard archer build. I know it's not as good as melee but it's entertaining. Trying to figure out what best build would be on this shard...

    GM Archery
    GM Tactics
    GM Anatomy
    GM Healing
    GM Music
    GM Provacation

    What's 7th skill? Any suggestion? GM Resist maybe? OrMagery for recall?

    I would go for magery... summons like blade spirits or even daemons can suppress the lack of damage of the archery.

    I personally would only use resist on a pvp toon.

    Resist is a good idea if you also want to lead with pks... but with resist and no magery... will not be sufficient.
    The idea of a bard is not getting hited but you could sacrifice healing to keep resist and magery... all you need is to survive against the damage dumps.. healing don't help this hours... is pot+spell.

    My first UOR character was Bard/Archer

    GM Anat
    GM Tact
    GM Archery
    GM Music
    GM Provo
    GM Healing
    30 Magery
    70 Resist

    Used occasionally as support in TMaps so bit of resist to help with random mob aggro. Also used to kill golems. Started out with Hiding at 70 and have used Tracking at 70 as well for events and holidays.

    How many arrows from 50 to 100 archery about?

    Can you shoot targets all the way? Or it has to be creatures?

    From the "One Guide" (http://uorforum.com/threads/one-guide-to-rule-them-all-one-guide-to-find-them.682/) (always my first stop for questions)

    "It takes ~8 to 10k Arrows to GM and you will need 2-3 bows"

    Targets are like training dummies I believe and will only take you to some small amount. Best to bring in another toon to a house and fire at them or trap monsters. You can practice healing as well.

    At 87.9 Archery from 50.0. Used 13K arrows 10 bows so far.

    GMed Anatomy, Tactics and healing a day ago.

    Painful and expensive for a combat skill that isn't as good as the others. Grrr

    Hope you're not planning on doing regular farming with it, otherwise you're just going to be more disappointed once you gm and get on the field. Chris has done a lot of good things with UOR, but the 1 or 2 updates he's made to archery and it remains pretty lackluster has kept me baffled as to why such a beloved skill would remain so underwhelming.

    I know it's not as good as the other combat skills. I like it because I don't like close combat. Just brutal though as I was expecting 8K-10K arrows and I've blown through 14K and 10K bandages.

    Start up costs for a skill have never bothered me even if it takes a couple hundred k. For archery unfortunately though, in my experience and unless you have a bitchen slayer, monsters worth farming have an easier time healing through the arrows and bolts which make for annoyingly dragged out fights. Oh and you need to use fort powder to repair archery weapons since there are no repair deeds for them.

    I am new so I don't have 100K. I collected all the wood and feathers with my Dex/LJ toon that cost nothing to level to GM Sword/Tact/Anatomy/Healing/LJ/Mining

    Crazy the differences

    Yea definitely expect a difference in damage from archery to swords with LJ. From mediocre damage to highest damage on the server.

    Kudos to farming all the resources yourself

    I try to be as self sufficient as possible. I mine my own ingots, chop wood, gather feathers, pick cotton.

    Only thing I can't do is get regs, I have to buy those.

    88.0 (gained .1) since 5:54 eastern, it's now 9:21 pm.

    Used another 2K arrows. The "guide" is wrong or I am doing something wrong. Do you gain on hits only? Or misses too? The toon he's been shooting went from 0 to 90s Parrying

    (I put shield in his hand cause archer will killing him in 2 shots before heal could go through)

    Searched the forum because my level of frustration has hit its end as I've been stuck at 88.0 and I am now out of arrows. I came across this post from this thread

    I am hoping this is my problem. I plan to report back once I am able to test, so this thread might advise others if it is what's causing issue. And hopefully change the guide.

    It will be a few days until I can test it since as I said I am totally out of arrows. So I have to LJ and kill birds until I have another 15K arrows.

    The best way to train archery is inside a house.

    That way you can pick up the arrows that miss and use them again.

    The arrows will not decay buy if you die inside the house while afk training your corpse will decay.
