For some reason when you put a boat key on a key ring along with several other separate boat keys, it is not able to recognize your boat key from the key ring. I had to unlock all keys from the key ring and I could only get the key to function if it was one at a time. Not a deal breaker, but for those who may want to control a fleet of ships.. this could be a nuisance.
I have not experienced this; though to be fair my only key ring with boat keys on it is for my provocation setup and the keys are only used for refresh purposes. Was the problem an inability to utilize the boat entirely? Or simply the inability to refresh? If just the inability to refresh, I'm going to guess that you were affected by the same bug that causes boats to be difficult to dry dock periodically.
Ah, yes. This is not a problem with the keyring; this is a known problem with certain regions of the map. I'm not sure if the mechanism that causes it has been 100% figured out yet, but this is known and not uncommon. Move a few steps any direction and try again; the problem will resolve itself after a couple steps. At least, it has for me every time thus far.
