Tournaments are fun, even if just watching (well for me).
The capture the flag games are a nice place to shake a stick and change things up. however..

The team assortments, why are they not randomized?
Every time I have attended has basically ended up the same way minus the 4-way map.
One stacked team vs bunch of people that aren't established.

    lasting impressions:
*Why join unless you have: an alchemist or are 'fully stocked' (it isn't a, 'come drop in and try it out' kind of affair)
*Why join if you don't have a runic weapon or a few skill-sets that can bypass that.
*Yes you could join in and just be a healer, regardless - you are fodder.

I guess if a person wanted the experience to be different they could organize their own thing,
though this is the shard run thing.. and attendance is, well. You know how it is.
It's easy to try it a couple times and get a bad taste quickly.

I am wondering how many people have attempted it and just said.... YEAH not my thing?
Also wondering how many people have attempted it and said... damnit I'mma get myself STOCKED and RUNIC'd and Imma stick it right in their ______ next time!
    ------------
*If possible could a small readable book with 'How to capture a flag' be placed in the event lobby somewhere?
I understand this may take away from the player interaction, simple conversation, though it 'could' be helpful with very minimal effort.
Why a book, well, because the un-organized, un-knowing folk usually join with minutes to spare. (but i guess they could look it up in forums or ask questions, but what does a noob know about asking the right questions?)

"is this the ctf?" "when does it start?" (never ask, "how do i capture a flag?") and by the time its good to know, its too late.
Or the people you're with just forget to ask, "'do you know how to do things?"
    ------------
"thank you for coming to play with us"
Yes - I thoroughly enjoy dying on average once per minute // I myself actually dont mind it at all, though I can easily see how that is off putting for future attendance.

Even when the SPANK team IS holding its punches (its hilarious, some do pull their punches) it just doesn't matter.
That is the power of better equipment - proper builds.

Drop in and play, casual? no, definitely not for casuals. (unless you enjoy punishment) *grin*
Opinions on CTF for guild vs guild (or organized) events or CTF random assignment of teams anyone?

I have never taken part, so my knowledge of these is limited. Based on your explanation, I can see both sides. For the hardcores that have been here a long time, this might be one of the best ways to use great gear and builds to their fullest to dominate the competition. It's nice to have some content that caters to vets, and this sounds like one of these niche things.

I'd gear towards the question of how to organize a group that can stand a chance against this kind of team. Maybe new player events can be organized by guys like you, for some more light hearted fun PvP in a tournament style. This could start to build experience for those who might one day get some good gear and be able to hold their ground in the big leagues.

i went there two times... was sufficient to realize that i need to remake all my hotkeys and way of playing and the saddest thing, to see that i am very far away to get a appropriate outfit to make it.

i am gming poisoning to see how less bad will gonna be.. the two times i saw the opponent working on group(probably voicing on discord) and me in a team where everyone simply was running randomly like dogs in a battlefield.

I have noticed the stacking of the teams on CTF lol. I've noticed some teams will have newish players only for everyone to flock to another team entirely leaving them all alone hah. I feel sorry for them and try to pick the weakest team to stick it to the conformists!

In ctf you have unlimited reagents/heal/cure pots so you can bring 1 of each and never run out
    *refresh pots too iirc.

Save up some $ and buy an agapite or better runic. Agapite weapons are fairly inexpensive and will guarantee at least some threat potential, usually a few kills

If you need a few I could do some at a slight discount to encourage more players in ctf!

I know the tournaments in the event center work the same way in these regards. Player held tournaments are “regular” felucca rules.

One great way to practice pvp stuff is in UOR test center. You can instantly gm skills and there’s regs/potions galore. Best way to play with different builds while not having to worry about burning money/time building characters/materials

alot of what that is is people in voice. Its very hard to beat people in voice if your not in voice. they can sync drops and communicate locatisons so much more effectively. We do technically have a UOR discord with all the different colored teams having their own voice channell... but ive never actually seen that in use.

Its also a weird time on the server, normally there is about 3 or so pvp/pk groups going, but right now its pretty much only SoF. Anarchy and KP haven't been playing as much. IT is probably more healthy for the server to have multiple pvp/pk groups.

Generalized questions not necessarily complaints, what Raven points out about the access to voice is a massive bonus.

I understand fully that people can organize their own thing, would it be possible to place anks in the CTF rooms and open them up as an 'area' to do things?
Screw it, i'll make a carpenter, *puns*
Game ends when the box fort disappears.
This above is just factions I suppose, and it exists - even with blessing gear

So what is the difference between factions and ctf except one faction is capture the noob?

I might have an idea for you. *mulls*

Dont get me wrong here, the opportunity to gain the equipment is there, but so is the chance to create it. #UORthings
That is part of the fun.

That's perfect, I'm glad you want to try harder. I hear that Valrick fellow is selling some sweet Agapite Runic gear.
Poisoners are really good in those games. The offside flanking archers looked like a fun gig as well.

Try it out. There is nothing to lose.

*I would have to create and sell a lot of books to accomplish that.

There was supposed to be a ‘randomized team’ implementation added quite a while ago, but it never made it. I think it would really be a great addition and bring the fun factor back to CTF. I’ve played with friends on here where we were on random teams on the 4-base CTF and it was a lot of fun smack talking my buddies in voice when I killed them. It’s really something that should be implemented if the event is to continue, but then again...who cares at this point.

The randomized teams was implemented you mean? I didn't know that. So they would basically sabotage the game for their buddies at that point or what? Not surprised lol.
