    Here's a few things to check if you're randomly losing connection overnight and can't seem to figure out why. Others feel free to chime in and add to this.

    • Make sure the server wasn't restarted for a patch or other reason first.
      • Ask players in IRC first. If you can't seem to get a good answer, then ask a Staff member and they'll respond as they have time.

    • Check your Internet Service Provider. Do ping tests to the server and see if you've got any packet loss.
    • Start
      • --> Programs & Files
        • --> Accessories
          • --> Command Prompt
            • Type in: ping -s 4 login.uorenaissance.com

    • Check to make sure your computer is not going into sleep mode.
    • Go to Control Panel
      • --> Hardware and Sound
        • --> Power Options
          • --> Edit Plan Settings
          • Choose the "Never" setting.

    • Check that your Network Adapter isn't being turned off to save power.
    • Go to Control Panel
      • System and Security
        • System
          • Device Manager
            • Network Adapters
              • Right Click on your Network Adapter and go to "Properties"
                  • Go to the last tab labeled "Power Management"
                  • Make sure the check box for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is NOT checked.

    Unfortunately, there is approximately a million other things that could cause you to lose connection, including (but not limited to) mice in the walls. Here, though, are a few of the more common issues to try to tackle first before you tear out your walls looking for rodents.
