I know this is a thing on OSI shards, but I have no clue when it started. I think high-level carpenters should be able to make bulletin board addons. I would love one for my shop to point out sales/new items, offers to buy/sell resources, etc. And I'm sure guildhouses and player towns could think of plenty of uses as well.

Absolutely would be cool. But we all know some racist idiot would be posting crap on them, therefore it would never happen just because they don't wanna deal with that headache. That is why we can't have nice things lol

oh god so true. so, let the person who locks down the board control who has access - owner/friends of house/guildies/everyone for example. if they've been on the internet long enough to find this place they should know the risks :p

Now that would be a good idea. Someone will always try to find some way to abuse stuff in game, so at least limiting access to it should work. Coming from second age, I can understand why there are no public bulletin boards able to be writable lol

    It's a great idea...

During the era wasn't posting messages on the public (town) bulletin boards allowed?

I'm no scripter but it feels like it should be easy enough. Allow one post per 24 hours and if someone posts something so racist/vulgar that it violates the shard rules just tell a GM as you would if they had done it via character speech?

Yeah it was allowable in this era i'm pretty sure. It's probably a default function in the coding but probably disabled. I'd imagine staff doesn't want to deal with another headache like they do having to change people's names to Generic Player lol. I do think the good would outweigh the bad, having it restricted to either guildmates or friends of the house would be a good start. Little things like that would help get stuff going in game rather than irc, since not everyone wants to get involved in irc but want to adventure in game and find people that way.

EDIT: Come to think of it, I remember actually recruiting for a guild via bulletins in the Britain Inn...and actually got a few recruits that way.

It's possible to see bulletin boards on the prints, but also there's the Note: Not all items pictured will be craftable.

I'd think the small number of staff here would prefer to not introduce anything that would increase GM tickets.
The number of Generic Player running around is unusually high as it is.

In fact you're probably right but it's unfortunate.
