Barding as it were is usually in regards to pvm. However, Peacemaking can be used on players, but I find it odd that discordance can not? It would be dumb for provocation, clearly, but discordance is only a debuff.
While I think it would be cool, I don't know quite how it could be designed without being too overpowered. Personally, I think Peacemaking should disrupt precast spells or the spellcasting process, much as it drops anyone out of aggression. However, maybe that's a nice give for Discordance in lieu of temporary stat/skill nerf. Also: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2993
I like this idea! Seems like it would be probably be lousy for 1v1, but would be a good PvP support skill. As to overpowered, it's a 20% reduction in stats/skills (that number could of course be tinkered with). Since it would require 200 skill points to really use it, you're nerfing yourself by 28% just to take it.
I think it would be amazing for 1v1. Lowering someone to 80 HPs is amazing, also cuts them down to 80 max mana, and slows their mana regen rate, and reduces their magic resistance. And once you lock on the Discordance, it can't be broken (as long as you don't get offscreen from the opponent, or cast Invis on yourself). I mean, they're even fizzling ebolts 25% of the time at 80 magery! The reason your 20% for 28% is not a good comparison is because not all 7 skills are equal. I'd gladly trade my 200 least important skill points for 100 or 140 skill points in more important areas (not to mention the attribute STR/DEX/INT stuff). I think it would have to be 10%, tops, for PvP. And even then, should have some kind of way to break it that doesn't currently exist.
Yup, it would be like sending the other person into instant stat-loss. 1) Disco 2) Strenghten 3) Mind Blast 4) ?? 5) Profit
discordance can be a great skill for players especially melee if made comparable to the spell curse in terms of stat (i have no thoughts in regards to the skill debuff), make it unstackable with the spell itself. To break it (could be on a timer like the spell itself)
Hell, I'll just take my tamer/bard/discoer and PvP with him! A good mana dump from me and my pets should be enough vs. someone with 80 STR and 80 resist.
Fair points! I retract my '20% not being overpowered' comments. Yea, this is ideally what I would want it to be. A desirable support skill, but not really ideal for 1v1.
i think it would be more than viable in a 1v1 situation... a decrease in health with exp: a weapon that hit you for 35 damage and your health has been dropped to 80 due to a debuff.. now thats some heavy damage racking up in a short amount of time
