So Im looking over potential PvP builds since my main is mostly done, and I have a reliable source of other players' income. One thing Ive noticed more and more looking over these forums is the opinion that archery is essentially useless, and based on what Ive seen that Magery can do, that certainly seems to be the case. But what Im wondering about is if archery has any burst potential. Now I havent done much combat. I fireballed a few rats once. But magery combos and spells all have a casting time. If youre a baddie like me, you'll still drop fast, but players who are on their toes could ride away and only eat maybe one spell. Additionally, it seems like everyone is packing magic resistance these days. So what if you only use a bow at just outside point blank range, and only equip the slowest firing highest alpha strike crossbows you could find? If you ride up with 3 people and all unload at once, would there be any value to that, or would it be too unreliable? What about with gates or hiding or things like that. Is there any potential for archery to out-burst magery against stationary targets, or is archery objectively inferior in all categories? I ask because in any game where people can move around a lot, I view high alpha strike potential as king, since you can fire and withdraw or control a fight. So do bows have any place there?
