Emote sounds - Not an OSI thing, but wondering everyone's opinion on this.

For those that have actually heard and seen the sounds/animations from other servers you've probably played on - I was wondering what the general consensus of the server is in regards to the emotes.

It takes [e giggle to make a giggle sound, for instance.

    There were/are tons of them:
    scream
    laugh
    puke
    faint
    giggle
    fart
    sigh
    sneeze
    cough

and I'm sure more I'm forgetting some. They added a fun aspect to the game - character emotions - that were audible and a lot of times funny.

I notice they don't have them here, and wouldn't see a harm in implimenting them, but that's up for the guys in charge to decide whether or not they impliment it, but figured a public opinion would be in order either way.

    Thanks for reading!

    https://soundcloud.com/user108869334/f-ah

    female sounds:
    0x30B - 0x339

    male sounds:
    0x41A - 0x44B

Back on Angel Island, Adam had created a [play command that allowed the use of the music note sounds.

    [play a c# c cs d d d d a

and depending on the instrument that u had you would play using those sounds,
some people were quite creative and reproduced stones and other melodies

As a die hard bard, I'd like to see this....

... after many other issues are addressed first.

I didn't know about the bard sounds, that sounds kind of neat also.

I can understand why this could be a fun feature to have, although I don't use sounds myself.

I think the big questions here are, would this be too much of a customization, since owners are trying to stick with era accuracy.
And what kind of coding would it take, and does that coding that already exists for these are glitch free?

    thanks

Regarding era accuracy, a cosmetic change such as this would be one of the best candidates for change even more so if you can disable the sounds on your client after they have been implemented. Though, I actually have all sounds activated! Why play in such silence?

I would play "dueling banjos" at the bank and watch people look around nervously :D

I don't think I'd like this, if only because I really get into the nostalgia of UO and a bunch of new things will trip me out! Especially new sounds. What if I can't hear the creaking bank box opening sound over someone playing dueling banjos?!

Razor specifically allows you to filter bard's music among other things. Besides, there are many examples of our real world filtering into Sosaria. At least, I seem to remember so.

I kid you not, someone would actually play some song by Snoop Dog on their lute... I'm not hip enough to remember which one but it was clearly recognizable. (No, not Gin and Juice, but another one I can't think of the name).

I didn't exactly run with bards on AI so I only heard a custom song once. The guy recalled into the Yew liches playing something awesome upon arrival.

I immediately made a musician then nearly as quickly got bored and gave up. It took some effort to be done right.

It would be toggle-able to hear the sounds.
Something like [music on , [music off
or could be added to the [profile gump if Telamon wanted to put in the work

I made a char specifically so i could play songs on the lute. The guy you spoke of is probably the same guy, I think he was French but I cannot remember what his char name was.
