In this adventure: Lord Haywyr of KoS King Blaise of OoO Sarreffe of TKB Hans of TKB (not of the southern Isles) Kristopher Khan the Great Swordsman of VoP Athena Allinone of VoP (ok, Allinone isn’t really her last name, but man does she have a dress for every occasion!) And special guest appearance by that Mountain troll that some Miner left for us in an obscure cave passage that nobody EVER uses (except us). THANKS! ======================================================================================================================== The force that blasted him out of the cave made his attempt to ‘tuck and roll’ look more like a ‘flail and fall’. Lord Haywyr still had no clue why he was fighting a mountain troll in the obscure northern regions of Yew. He had answered an invitation to visit the bustling Village of Paws. He had heard of many tails in the taverns about this village of late, and was pleased when he had received a personal invitation to visit the grounds and see it for himself. His visit had started out as commonly as one could expect – at first. But when he reached the guard tower situated over the south eastern road he was immediately subdued by the guards and transported to the Court of Justice, far north in Yew, for questioning as to his purpose in Paws. He had spent a few hours in his cell when he learned that there were several others who were in his selfsame predicament. All of them had received a personal invitation to visit Paws, and wound up with the same accommodations of a five by stone room with no windows. Another blast exploded and Kristopher Khan came flying out of the cave mimicking Haywyr’s similar fashion of ‘flail and fall.’ They glanced at one another and spoke no words, but both men nodded – they both knew they had no choice but to enter the cave again and face that giant mountain troll. Even if all they were armed with were sticks and fists. Inside the cave Jupiter used the Trolls momentary distraction to help arm those who had been cut off from the entrance. With the troll’s massive form standing between them and the entrance, escape was no longer on his already short list of options. He looked to Hans, and cast him a scroll and a sack of reagents, “Summon forth the storm of blades Hans while Athena distracts it!” Hans nodded and drew a runic shape in the dirt around him then he stood in the center and immediately began the time consuming process of summoning a spirit of the blades. Seeing that the scales were now tipping back into their favor, Jupiter cast a blue sack of dull blades and dented armor to the back of the cave. This might have seemed an odd thing to do, but he had noticed Kristopher and Haywyr sneak back in around the cracks and crags of the cave, and the bag fell just within their reach. Now this troll’s average life span just diminished significantly. ===================================================================================================================== With the troll dispatched soundly they still were not yet clear of the false accusations that had landed them all in the maximum holding cells of Yew. Jupiter opened a portal to the outskirts of Yew and they resumed their escape. Their journey would lead them south, to a fort of orcs where they discovered a clue. Somebody had been using the orcs to plant a trail leading the guards of King Brit to suspect that assassins from the region of Paws were targeting the families of the high ranking captains of the guard. It was at this point that Jupiter did as most Wizards do, and departed from the group. “I have matters to attend to. I urge you all to stay on this trail, and do not let it go cold! We must find out who’s been sending these orcs to frame Paws.” And then he was gone. ====================================================================================================================== Athena then took charge and led the group far to the south to a maze of hedges in the Spiritwood. She had already connected a few of the clues, and knew that the answers they needed were at the end of a very long maze. At the end of the trail, which had led them to the footprints which seemed to disappear under the dilapidated home, they found an evil Lich! Athena knew there was little chance at convincing the dead to confess, so she ordered the abomination to be slain. Fortunately, while the dead don’t speak, they do keep excellent records. Within the Lich’s study it had been keeping a detailed log of his attempts to oust Paws from the Spiritwood by having lies spread about the activities of the very peaceful villagers. /end (a map showing where the court of justice is located) (Despite Jupiter's stupidity, the group manages to escape their cells) (the Mountain troll!!!) (Backwoods of Yew)
