Seriously, I am very happy with the direction this server is going. Except for one of the latest patches. The warning system for faction traps is ridiculous. Warning someone of a trap coming up just defeats the purpose of the word trap, and the surprise factor it should hold. If you must have a warning system, as a compromise surely only those with 80+ Detect Hidden should be able to notice them, after all that's the skill I need to reveal the damn things if I am looking to remove it. As I said in a previous post, just because its 'accurate' doesn't make it the right thing to do.
Traps are meant to be seen by the use of high level Detect. It should not be automatic. Definitely defeats the purpose. Although, was this an intentional change or a byproduct of the GMs trying to dix Detect Traps as some of us have been asking for?
Then maybe this should have been left alone so that it would have fallen under the History Perfected instead of accurate.
I think that's the purpose of this thread. Are we shooting for what's 'right', or not? Traps should not be visible, hence the term 'Trap'. I don't see a billboard on the highway every time there's a cop sitting on the other side of an overpass. Having at least SOME level of Detect Hidden for the 'warning' would be wholly appropriate. Having no ability to Detect Hidden should leave you sucseptible to traps you have no warning of.
Correct. I would be more than happy to have it restricted to your level of Detect Hidden. IT takes 80 skill MINIMUM!! to reveal faction traps for removal. MINIMUM! Judging by the replies to the poll people think the same as me. I think staff should take this into consideration and as a compromise as a minimum apply a minimum level of detect hidden of 80 to get the warning.
