Fishing Tournament XL July 1st through July 7th, 2018 Over 9 million in prizes!!! Thank you for participating in the 40th Fishing Tournament.Today I will begin verifying winning fish. Once all winning fish have been verified, I will distribute prizes. The process may take a few days depending on angler availability. Please be patient. If you have a winning fish, you can lock it down on your steps or roof and PM me the location (IRC or forums). I will also be available to meet ingame to verify fish. Please contact me in IRC to meet. I also will contact staff regarding trophies which may come at a later date. Fishing Feats not accomplished will be given away in the Fish Log Lotto. All fish weighed in (except those who have already won prizes) are eligible. The house give away is open to ALL anglers. A lottery will also determine the winners. Both lotteries are based on when the angler turned in their fish. A random number generator will be used to determine the winners. For example, if an angler turned in the 15th fish and the generator produces a 15, that angler wins. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ahoy Anglers! I’m still a bit in awe that we are approaching UO:R’s 6th anniversary in September and that this will be the 40th fishing tournament! We have given away over 178 million in prizes in the tournaments.... crazy!!! I want to thank everyone who has supported the fishing tournaments over the years, from people who donated, staff who have created trophies and cool prizes (hued poles, etc), as well as everyone who enjoys fishing in them. When I started this venture over 5 years ago, I didn’t expect the level of enthusiasm and enjoyment many get from this little skill in UO. I also have been overwhelmed by the level of support players have shown thru their donations. While my words may seem like I final note good bye, it isn’t… rather just a quick thank you note from me to the community. FISH ON! Free to enter! No sign up required! Participating is easy! Fish all your heart desires, your eyes can strain, your attention can bare and simply post screen shots of your big fish in this thread.... Big Fish datestamp must be between 07/01/2018 and 07/07/2018. Winning fish will be verified ingame so keep fish until end of tourney. Mounting a trophy fish will remove the datestamp. An additional 100 platinum will be awarded to the first 3 anglers weighing-in a 200 stone or 1 stoner. Congrats to myself for landing a 200 stoner and winning an additional 100 plat!!!!!!! Congrats to Squealer for landing a 200 stoner and winning an additional 100 plat!!!!!!! Congrats to Road Runner for landing a 1 stoner and winning an additional 100 plat!!!!!!! 100 platinum bounty for a 40 stone fish Weigh-in a Fish, Win a Home!!! All fish weighed in were eligible to win home. A random number generator was used to determine the winners based on when the angler turned in their fish. For example, if an angler turned in the 15th fish and the generator produces a 15, that angler wins. https://www.random.org/ Congrats to the following anglers... Angler: shipwreck kraken - 130 stones - Fish Log #10 Prize: a small marble mining home @Puck Angler: Jack Sparrow - 95 stones - Fish Log #260 Prize: a large patio home @Majestic Angler: Felgorn - 76 stones - Fish Log #233 Prize: a large tower @Karrelan Fishing Feats: How to win these prizes will not be announced rather awarded to the angler who accomplishes a pre-determined feat. For example, there might be a prize for the angler who turns in the 100th fish. The angler who does the pre-determined action will win the prize. I will be submitting a list of these pre-determined feats and prizes to UO:R Staff before the Tournament begins to ensure there isn't a perception of a bias in awarding prizes. My advice is to participate and turn in fish no matter how big or small. Rules: * The tournament will be held Sunday July 1st to Saturday, July 7th, 2018. All fish weighed in must have a datestamp on that date. (Note: datestamp is based on UO:R time, US Central, -5 UTC) * Prizes will be distributed the following week. * Fish weighed in will be credited to the angler, not who turns. Anyone can submit fish for any angler. Angler must be present to claim winnings. * Use as many fishers as you like. Again, fish is credited to angler marked on fish. (some players use more than 1 fisher) * An angler can only place 1 fish in biggest and smallest categories. For example, Fisher X might have a 10 stone and a 12 stone fish however only the 10 stone will be credited in the smallest category. In addition, Fisher X can also place in biggest with a 199 stone fish. * No sign up required! Simply post a screen shot of your catch but keep it for prize reward and... DO NOT MOUNT FISH. Mounting a fish will erase datestamp. Fish will need to be verified ingame to collect your prize. Only fish weight will only be recorded. You keep your catch. * Anglers tied will split the prizes of the two respective places. For example, Anglers tied for 2nd place will split the winnings for 2nd and 3rd place. Notes on Fishing: Double-click on a fishing pole, then click on a body of water. If successful, you will catch a fish. You might catch something more interesting than a fish. Success with this skill also depends on the availability of fish in that specific area. 0-65 - On land you will fish up Magic Fish, and Normal Fish. 80+ - Sea Serpents (No SoS Message), Special Fishing Nets. 90+ - Treasure Maps 100 - Messages in a Bottle (aka MIB) / Waterstained SoS Message 95+ - You can reel in Big Fish which can be used to make Trophies via Taxidermy Kits. You can get to 100 skill/Grandmaster fishing from land. Once you have attained 95+ fishing, acquire a boat. They are player-made (check player vendors, forums, or IRC). You will need a boat to get offshore into deep water to catch Big Fish. Many thanks to the generous sponsors and UOR staff who make these Tourneys possible! Nay Sir!!! How dare you say such a thing! Once the Tournament Treasury is built up again, either by a large donation from an individual or several smaller donations, there will be another tournament. I will of course, as I've done in the past, sell personal items to build the funds back up. However my time is limited and frankly there are some items I will never sell (the Skull of Gemini comes to mind). Anyways... I have personally donated about 15-20% of what has been given away (184mil+) and the rest has been from player donations which I'm very thankful for. UOR Staff has been very supportive by providing trophies and special prizes like the hued fishing poles. Actually without the coding @Chris did we wouldn't even have fish tourneys. Luckily, large donations the last few years by @Treasureman, @Tommyrot, and @Faber has allowed me to conduct the tournaments without solicitation. I of course always accept donations. The remaining funds from them and others will be exhausted in this tournament thus another wont be held until funds are built back up and there is at least a few million in the treasury. FISH ON!
Hahaha! I actually saw them perform that in concert eons ago, way back when they were the opening act for Rush. Think it was the Roll the Bones tour for Rush.
I "had" to go dig this up Forgot who opened for Primus.... 2 bands and both were great!!! I've also seen Rush a few times. In fact it was my first concert in '83 for Signals in Holllywood, Fla.
