If you're going to run this auction like your guildmate, you need to first allow the 4.1gp bid, then wait a day, then post a sham "private bid", then go back and deny the 4.1gp bid. But at least you're doing a better job of running this one. Congrats!
I know I've been sceptical of PM bids many times and called Shill on several sellers on other trade forums. The problem is that you can't prove it either way and the forum operators shouldn't have to butt in because we don't believe it. If you don't believe it and don't like it, there's no problem because you're outbid. There is nothing lost but a few words in the forum of posting bids.
