I would like to know why the basement of Britain's artist guild is guarded. If memory serves me, the basement in the building directly N/NE of the West Bank of Britain was not guarded.
This memory is accurate as far as I recall but my recollection is slightly muddied from UOSA. Despite their goals of true era accuracy, I think several things are based on memories no stronger than our own.
Like the Red NPC's in the fisher's hut on the vesper beach..."evil"spawns were added in well into Renaissance to contrast the 2 facets. They were peaceful fishers originally...on my shard at least.
That was always guarded to my knowledge. It's possible there were line of sight bugs people exploited?
I remember on many servers, and I could have sworn on OSI at one point too, that the orc guild would setup traps in the basement of this building and lure unsuspecting people down there.
The theory is that town regions had a 0 to 20z axis region of effect. While RunUO regions default to -128z to 128z. I do believe the correct mechanic is for underground locations and elevated locations to not have guard protection as they were technically outside the town region which had guard protection applied. Britain is a bit odd as well as it is one of the only elevated towns not at sea level (0z axis) basically. I'll make a note to look into this the next time I do research in the UO Demo
