    New Players:

We are a guild of established players who are friends that have no problem helping others. We are a tight-knit group that does not accept just any addition to the fold. Expect any recruitment process to take some time for us to get to know and trust you. This is nothing against you, it is just what this guild is about. Also, if you cannot get into Voice Chat to get to know everyone, you probably won't be accepted into the guild. This does not mean that you cannot hang out with and be friends with the guild in a general sense, though.

    Candidates:

We will gladly take Candidates for the guild, and new players in general, out hunting if we have the time or are already planning to do so. After participating in the guild hunts and events for quite some time, the guild leadership will decide whether a candidate is a good fit for the guild. They will take into account the opinion of players in the guild, particularly the higher-ups, so make sure you interact with as many people as you can in the guild. This process can be quite lengthy, and is dependent on many factors.

We ask that candidates be patient. Participating in hunts and guild events as much as possible certainly will help reduce this time and let Guild Members get to know you quicker. Having a presence in IRC and Ventrilo will also help out in getting to know people.

To that end, we require that potential candidates of the guild host a guild event of some sort. This does not have to be anything fancy. It can simply be going on a dungeon crawl with some of the guild members. If you want to get more elaborate with this, you are more than welcome to. There is a list of Events Ideas at the bottom of this post for those that want to do something more involved.

Once you have interacted with the guild for quite some time and hosted an event/hunt/crawl, find a guild member (other than the Guildmaster) to recruit you to the stone and then let the guild member who recruited you let the Guildmaster know. The Guildmaster will then talk with the members of the guild about accepting you. If you are accepted, we will post in IRC and then you will need to 2x click the stone to complete the process. We do this to foster interaction and to see how you get along with multiple people. After years of managing guilds, we've found that people that have issues with this process are generally not a good fit as guild members.

Note: Do not ask the Guildmaster to bypass this process and just add you. You must interact with the guild in general first, host an event/hunt/crawl, and get a member other than the Guildmaster to recruit you.

    Behavior:

Most importantly, do not do anything to bring discredit to the Knights of Sosaria. Stick to this simple rule, and you’ll avoid the majority of the issues that can arise in Guild play. Be good to your fellow Guildmates. We understand that you will not always agree, but if you are found to be continually going after a particular guild member, you will simply be removed from the guild. This kind of behavior is not good for the guild and makes the guild look bad. For that reason alone, it will NOT be tolerated at all.

If you have a problem with a member, keep it private and fix it privately. Resolve all issues on the lowest level possible. Open and/or Public IRC Channels, Ventrilo/TeamSpeak Channels, and the forums are NOT the proper venues for personal disagreements. Discuss it in PM’s or in-game face-to-face. Do not make the Guild lose face because of your personal quarrels.

KoS is by no means a G-rated guild, however that does not entitle our members to do whatever they please. Simply use common sense. Blatant harassment of other players or simply unnecessary speech (such as racist or otherwise hateful remarks) will result in a quick boot. Ain't nobody got time for that!

Common Courtesy in fights is to leave your Fallen Foes with their Runes and a few recall regs to get themselves home. If there is time (and it is safe to do so); give them a rez, thank them for a Good Fight, and help them get back home. At the end of the day, this is a game folks. Don't get too bent out of shape over it. Try to be a class act and conduct yourselves accordingly.

    PKing and Griefing:

Our stance on pking and griefing is quite simple: Do not harm innocents.

Harming innocents includes, but is not limited to, stealing, looting, attacking, and otherwise intentionally causing someone to be killed or harmed. Do not turn a blind eye or do anything to allow an innocent to be harmed.

The term innocents can be rather confusing to some. Innocents are not always Blue players. People accidentally go Grey all the time. I think everyone here has accidentally healed the monster instead of themselves at least one time. Likewise, a Blue can quite easily be a griefer. A player may also be Blue to you, but not to your Guildmate(s). You are expected to stick up for your Guildmates first, then figure out what happened later. Being in an Anti-PK Guild, like the Knights of Sosaria, does not mean you can run around killing anyone who happens to go Grey. Likewise, a true Anti-PK must be ready to take counts, if the situation calls for it....and it will. Learn to manage these necessary counts appropriately. If you need more information on this, please ask.

Use your best judgment and stick to the principles of the Knights of Sosaria. If you simply don’t know what to do, walk away or get a hold of someone else in the guild.

Knights of Sosaria members are expected to follow these rules at all times. If you have ALT’s, that are not in the guild, that are PK’s or Thieves we ask that you keep it separate. Failure to do so will result in you being unceremoniously booted from the Guild. That means do not associate your illicit behavior with the Knights of Sosaria in any way. Do not use your Knights of Sosaria standing/characters to aid you in your nefarious deeds.

We recognize that players like to role play different characters and will not ask them to stop doing this. Unlike some people, we understand that this is a game and will not punish people that like to roleplay a wide variety of character types as that simply makes no sense in a game. Just make sure you can keep things separated so as to not break the most important rule, which is do NOT bring discredit to the Knights of Sosaria.

Some players are unable to accept that others role play all types of characters and will try to bring discredit to the Knights of Sosaria. As a guild, we will not tolerate this and these players may find themselves targeted for their slanderous and narrow-minded behavior.

    Character Names:

We encourage Candidates to have somewhat appropriate names. This isn't a big issue on this server, as most of the objectionable names are simply not allowed by the server rules. Again, this is done so as to not bring discredit to the Knights of Sosaria.

    Communication:

Communication is vital in a guild. This is why we ask that all members frequent the forums, login to IRC, and join our Channel at #KoS. We also have a Ventrilo/TeamSpeak Server that we ask members to get setup with. There is a link to the Discord Server Info here. Even if you do not have a microphone, or simply don't wish to talk, it is quite helpful in coordinating Guild Hunts and Dungeon Crawls if you are at least able to listen. We do require that you are able to talk to us in Voice Chat if you are to join the guild, though we do not require people to use it all the time. We do require that members use and login to UOAM when playing their guild characters.

We are also using Discord now. PM @crazydaze or @Lightshade for the info.

    Role Playing:

The Knights of Sosaria are actively looking for a group that would like to role play guards / squires / knights. Whereas this is not a strictly role play guild in any way, we think it would add to the shard in general to have a small contingent within the guild to foster player interaction.

If you feel that you can abide by these rules and are interested in joining the guild, contact us and we'll take it from there.

Note: There will be people that do not meet the requirements of our guild. That does not mean that they are not allowed to hang out with us and work with us on things. People that don't fit the "mold", but are still great people will be more than welcome to hang out with us at any time.

    Group Goals and Guild Properties:

As a group, we try to further and advance our guild town as we have time. If you read through the KoS Guild Forums, you can see many group goals for items in addition to many donated items for guild properties. One of our main underlying goals in all that we do is to provide public buildings for everyone on the shard to use (provided they are behaving in said buildings). To that end, you will notice that many of our buildings have lots of neat items and decorations in them. The core members of the guild, past and present, are stewards of all of these items and properties and do their best to share them with the community by keeping the buildings public or easily visible until they can be made public safely.

Libraries: The Knights of Sosaria are also the stewards of the libraries in Sosaria. You may have noticed that we have 4 libraries with a 5th on the way. We do this as a service of the realm and are always looking to expand the libraries to better serve the citizens of Sosaria. Our libraries are a collaboration of many people and so are the decorations within. They embody the good and selfless nature of the citizens of Sosaria and their willingness to work toward serving the realm.

In regards to the "behaving" in our guild buildings, we allow criminals to use the rune libraries so long as they are not causing trouble or using the libraries to commit crimes out of. We are an Anti-PK guild, though, and will attack PK's when we can to defend the realm. Whereas we try to give them a break in the libraries when they are not causing trouble, we are not perfect and sometimes things get a little muddied there. Try to understand that its a game and that we do our best to not cause any trouble. (Due to recent PK's not honoring this understanding)

One thing to note regarding the process of getting in touch with us is that ALL of our players have various things going on in real life. It is an unrealistic expectation to pop into IRC, ask a question, and then leave in a few minutes because no one immediately responded.

I've seen many players hop in our IRC channel, say they're interested in joining, and then leave a few minutes later. Stick around folks, we can't be looking at IRC all the time. Better yet, log into the forums and post an application in the Guild Forums. That way we'll have a forum name to track you down on to get back to you. With IRC, its best to just leave yourself logged into it whenever you have the computer on if you are able to. That way people can respond to you when they have the time to, you can see what players are talking about, and you can see when everyone is going to do a hunt.
