Happy 2nd Anniversary UO Renaissance (Event Details)

To celebrate the 2nd Anniversary of UO Renaissance going live we have a few special things planned for our players.

Players with accounts over 21 days old will notice a special bag placed in their bank upon login. These will be awarded from 8/31/2014 to 9/2/2014 and are given 1 per account. These items will be placed directly in your bank, for players who might have logged out in hazardous locations, so make sure to check there.

To celebrate the anniversary we have created an exclusive line of clothing, jewelry and decorative items. Each item is named to celebrate the occasion.

Each bag has a chance to contain the following

• 1 2nd Anniversary Clothing Item (hue 1359,1159)
• 1 2nd Anniversary Jewelry Item (newbied, hue 1359,1159)
• Chance for an anniversary mug
• 1 Hair Restyle Deed, Beard Restyle Cream, or Clothing Bless Deed
• 1 Fireworks Wand
• 1 Special Named Bag (hue 1359,1159)
• Rare Chance for a mystery item

During our anniversary weekend we will be running a 4 part scavenger hunt event.

Scavenger Hunt Event - Schedule

• Friday August 29th @ 11pm Cst (12am est, 9pm pst)
• Saturday August 30th @ 1pm cst (2pm est, 11am pst)
• Sunday August 31st @ 3pm cst (4pm est, 1pm pst)
• Monday September 1st @ 6pm cst (7pm est, 4pm pst)

Scavenger Hunt Event - How to Particpate

• Be prepared to travel the world, following clues in order to find Chris ingame (see my avatar)
• You should have the ability to recall, a horse and access to a rune library.
• A detailed knowledge of the UO world and a bit of UO lore is a huge help.
• Simply follow the clues and speak to Chris ingame to place in each round.
• Players earn 3 points for 1st, 2 points for second and 1 point for 3rd in each round.
• Ties are determined by checking Chris's journal.
• Each event will have 12 rounds.
• Players will need to be prepared to travel to towns, the overworld and dungeons
• Each character may only score in two events. Allowing for our international and working players to have an equal chance.

Scavenger Hunt - Registration

• In order to register for the event I will need to be given a character name and forum name.
  Note: You can do this via IRC Pm, Forum PM, or before any of the event rounds. Making sure I have your contact information is critical

Scavenger Hunt - Scoring and Prizes

• Each players points will be pooled to determine a clear ranking ladder.
• Ties will be determined by 1st place finishes. (1 first place > 3 third place finishes)
• Players, in order of placement will gain access to the prize room shown below.
• Players can choose 1 item from the prize room.
• 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place will earn a trophy honoring their achievement.
• Players will also earn platinum based on their total event score.
• Each character may only score in two events. Allowing for our international or working players to have an equal chance.
• You may use a 2nd character for a 3rd and 4th round for another chance at the prize room.
  Note: However this character cannot access the prize room before everyones first character.
  Note: The masks are just for reference, 4 mask dyes are available as prizes.

  Unique Item Note: The prize room this year includes unique items that have gone out of circulation per our unique item standards and website interface. These items are included in the prize room because we can now add new copies into circulation.

Note: The locations being chosen for the event are known only to myself. No other staff or volunteers have been involved in the selection process or clue design.



Thanks to everyone who has helped Renaissance make it to its 2 year anniversary.

We have a 5 year plan at the moment for anniversary colors, and using the roll of the UO dice, the colors for this year were determined. Each year will have 2 exclusive colors that will only be used for the anniversary event, then never used again. Last year was a special blue/green. This year is orange and yellow.

You can also cut up the clothing and craft whatever appealing item you should desire, or even pull a blaise and dye the items purple.

The pictures might not make it clear, but this is just a bright orange color. Not the neon blaze color seen on other servers.

Extensive testing was done with each hue selection to make sure it was suited for the Renaissance server. While these are brighter, or different than normal hues they will only be introduced during this singular event.

We also make sure that these hues show contrast when applied to an item. Which is usually the determiner for a non-neon color. We will add spawners for these colors on test center so players can try them out themselves.

For reference here is a comparison between the 2nd Anniversary hue (1359, right) and the Blaze hue (1174, left)

That is the plan, we take great care in the hue selections. And we are quite proud of the fact that UOR has the highest standards for the application of color to the world.
