Some dude in IRC named BunnySlippers brought up a good idea about honoring the players who do a lot for this shard with a "Heroes Yard". Some names brought up were @Zyler , Peace, @Keza . I'd like to nominate @wylwrk to this non-existent garden for his travel gnome, videos, event gathering abilities, hilarity, etc. Does anyone else think this would be a good idea. If so, what names should be in there (and for what)?
My idea is to take the counselors buildings in each town and deco them with a player statue and a theme involving things they do to help us. It'll make the towns look nicer, be a nice thank you, and I dunno, seemed like a good idea.
I don't know how or why, but in the tinker's shop next to Ocllo bank this exists I've been banned and in trouble more times than I can count. But the good people on this server and the fun I've had here, this is the most special thing to me. No matter what my accomplishments are (and the list is long) this is special. I don't do a quarter of what these guys do for you guys, and this has made me love this place more than anything. I think something like this for those that go above and beyond would be a great tribute, and the counselor's buildings are perfect for them. I'm having a rare altruistic moment, you guys should jump on and turn that spark into a super nova.
I like the idea but my question would be who decides the candidates and criteria. In my opinion easy choices are the ones you mention who run events and giveaways and such. But it could and should be argued that guys who are constantly pvping/pking/champing/idocing/houselooting etc... add just as much to our shard but would be much more controversial picks.
Peace is me & you can do this right now.. today... Capt Morgan and Avelmira did it... come see their player statues at Vesper Castle Plenty more room in the hall for more hero statues
Agreed. There would have to be some sort of strict guidelines so things don't get dramatic and political.
Vesper Castle will never fall. Everyone has great ideas that they never follow through on, or take ownership of, or make happen through the avenues available to them. Have Chris/Staff do it... here is a great idea for staff to implement, spend time on, monitor, police and enforce... who wants that kind of headache when there are so many other things on the books to get done to keep this place in business
It's just a random fluttering thought for the general message board. What happens with the idea is beyond me. However, I wouldn't be so quick to label this a frivolous task that isn't worth looking at. What these people bring to the table is invaluable to the shard, and they do not seek value in return. However, a legacy you can look back on with pride is priceless and may even motivate others to do good in turn. “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.” ― Henry Ford
Telamon / @Chris is currently working on a massive gold sink project called beautify Brit. For those who dont know about this project, its intended to fill in many existing buildings that currently have nothing but the basic table, chairs, picture on the wall. Players would poor gold into a location they want deco for and the new deco will appear automatically when specific gold amount are obtained. It would be possible to roll this hero yard into that system if the staff approves.
I voted no. To much of an opinion to pick who is worthy. Everyone is always going to have some enemy that is going to think its not justified. In UO the villains are often just as important and the heroes, certain ups and downs of the shards life have survived off the guilds/people playing the bad guys. Get a player statue, do it with others, join one that is already built. IF it falls one day, then that platinum is forever sunk, and that helps the shard still. Memorializing people not playing doesn't help the ones playing, it makes a goal to quit.
Peace is wrong a lot and his bbq looks terrible. But I agree with him on this one. In theory it's a great idea, but I think it would create too much conflict with opinions on who gets one. And if Chris were to start and get busy, players/guilds would get dramatic as to what's holding up theirs or their friends spots in a Hero Yard. I would like to see more playerbase dedications to their former UOR friends. Encourage creativity and goals for players instead of staff. Like I said, great idea and don't eat Peace's bbq.
We could make a questionary to the comunity do see their perception, like a top of mind: 1-Who is the best PvPer in the shard? 2- Who is the PvM king? 3- The richer? 4-The most helpful: 5-The "joker"(the villain) And the trophy "I am a friend of" (3 guys you usually evokes when you want to impress the new friends) the questionary could run at a parallel plataform like survey monkey and should be anonymous to avoid ego(butt) hurt.
