Lets be honest, I'm shit at PvP, and my 300ms-600ms ping doesn't help. So what should I do? I've already made my #1 priority to max out my Hiding skill, but other than that, I mayb was well get on all fours and prepare for your lovin.
Eek that's a bit high.. I played on a euro server with 120 to 200 long for about 10 years.. You kinda get used to but fighting people with < 50 ping is annoying. Have you tried rerouting your IP or do you live far from the server?
What kind of internet do you have? satellite? Have you tried wtfast? 600ms is international space station level latency. I used to ping 180 and it sucked for dueling, but it was surprisingly playable in the field.
ahh the dreaded high ping. High ping made me quit in the first place all of those years ago when everyone started getting broadband and I lived in a neighborhood that only had dial up. It became available in my old neighborhood right after we moved away and our new neighborhood didn't have it available for years after arriving. I feel for you man, it stole what I know would have been many enjoyable years of UO from me. As you can probably tell I am still a bit bitter about it . Now I am rocking a 50ms ping, so I finally get to play UO like it is supposed to be played.
I'm In Northern Australia, so intenet is always shit. Doing -ping in game i get min/max averages of around: 250/500 300/600 220/360 215/450 and so on, but it consistently sits at around 300-350ms. Obviously the more that is happening in that area of the map/region (more players, more events, more things and stuff,) then my ping is going to be at the higher end.
Here's a buncha questions/things to do that may/may not help you. What's your ISP service plan? Speed down / up What flavor is your modem... specifically is it docsis 2 or 3? Do you know how to log into / can you log into your modem? It "might be" at 192.168.0.1 ... sometimes you need to 192.168.100.1 They likely left the default user/password. For example, Arris modems are user= admin password = password (yep, really) Just google yours Can you look at your spectrum of frequencies available for HSD transmission in there somewhere? What is the transmission power? It'll be a number followed by "db" (decibels) ::: between 28 and 50 is okay for cable internet. Lower the better. What is your receive power? ::: between -10 and +10 is usually okay (if cable internet) What is your signal to noise ratio? It might be in a chart signified by the header of "SNR"... usually in the same place. How's your traceroute to the game server? Is Bangladesh or the Ukraine involved? Should this be moved to the technical support forum? Do you know all this already and have done it? If so ... *bow* my apologies.
