[Apologies if this is the wrong board to post this]

Hi there, I am new to UO Renaissance and loving it so far! In my first few days in the game a player who was leaving gave me a large stone keep, with various semi-rares inside. This was completely unexpected and really made it a great start to the shard:). As I have no money and the house is too big I would like to sell it and downsize; it is currently on the trading forum.

My question is; if I accept an offer on the house how do I safely transfer it without risk of being 'duped'? Is there a failsafe transfer window as with pets or do I run the risk of handing over the keys and getting no money back?

This may be a stupid question but I remember being conned out of some items when I first played UO back in 2000 and don't want to repeat it...

Transfer the house using the house sign, both players need to be under the sign. You transfer the house deed, it will open a trade window with a colorful deed already in it, that is your house deed. They drop the check in trade window and accept.

You would of had to do this when you revived the house......

Just do NOT click on the checkbox on your side of the trade window UNTIL they place their check in it. Before you click, confirm their check has the correct number of zeroes! :)

what about safely buying a house? do you have to come with the check to the place, or will you have access to the bank from under the house sign?

Yes you'll need to bring the checks with you but they are blessed and cannot be lost/stolen as long as those checks are in your MAIN BACKPACK. Don't ever put them in another pouch or container besides your main backpack and you should be fine.

I remember back on production shards stealing a bag with checks in it at the brit moongate. Was a good day and haven't been able to find it again in 17 years.
