Introducing Luthor's IDOC Alert Service!

Good afternoon one and all!

My name's Luthor, and I enjoy running around the world marking houses in various states of decay. Often, these houses collapse and much loot is left lying upon the ground, ripe for the picking. I enjoy the hunt, the wait, and the eventual pay-off when a house drops. It's quite the thrill!

Unfortunately, being new to the server I'm woefully unskilled and am easily slain. This causes problems! Sometimes, a house I've found soon to collapse will be spotted by others, and I am quickly cut down to watch my pursuit flee into the hands of another. You win some, you lose some.

However, one individual in particular continues to vex me and, given his frequency at IDOCs, I can only assume he also travels the world in search of fallen riches. Our conflict has now escalated to the point where as I am not able to ruin his fun as he can ruin mine, the community will benefit instead!

Effective immediately, any IDOCs I'm camping where Quenby/an angry fat kid/Maderna opt to also make an appearance will now be broadcast in real time on the IRC channel with the coordinates, closest city, and approximate drop time announced. There is no fee for this service. Simply be on IRC chat when an IDOC appears, and if we're lucky to have it camped accordingly you'll get to participate in the fight for riches and glory!

Please note I take no responsibility for any injury or death you suffer at the hands of those in attendance at the camp, nor can I guarantee the volume or type of loot to be found within an IDOC once fallen. Often reds will make appearances, and noto-PKs like fat kid are more than willing to take a count. Prepare accordingly, and have fun!

HOORAY for public idocs?

Don't worry about how I sound now, just worry about the sounds of IDOC alerts coming to IRC!

Maybe your time would be better spent farming or macroing or gearing up a character to join in on the fun.

I love when people broadcast Idocs. It always makes the other people camping it butthurt and also gets a bunch of people to show up to a central location where fights inevitably breakout.

IDOC campers kind of remind me of storage hunters.

Lovely idea. I personally love the party at IDOCs so I never have a reason to keep them secret. I also don't give much of a hoot for the loot (just don't pollute!) so if you see me there, you know I'm dying to party.

Instead of getting upset and trying to get revenge, why don't you try to work out a deal with them? If you can't beat them, join them. Right?? I think your solution is just going to cause more problems. But that's just my opinion.

I would think that the only people that would have a problem with this would be those that camp IDOCs all the time.

Public IDOCs are alright by me!

The only people that would have a problem with this are people who want to PVP for fun not for a living.

You try to farm something or try to counter one of the W^T reds and its a gang bang. That is why pvp is like bleh here. (no offense ment, but true)

I understand what you are saying here but publicly announced idocs only means more people which means more PVP.

PVP in UO has almost always been lopsided battles. IMO it doesn't make them any less fun. I don't have a guild, roll with a guild, or with other people generally. I am solo 99.99999% of the time, and still have a blast!

As you can see, it's all fair when these IDOC'ers are ganging up on Luthor and killing him, but if TT shows up it's time have a tantrum.

This will bring more excitement to the shard! hah sounds like fun

I haven't been there to witness the Luthor gang bang against 1 or 2 noobs.

I see 1 faction person in glow from time to time. 1 SL shows up, its a fight. Oh wait count to 10 and its a gang bang.

I'm farming, I see 1 red. Oh wait 2 more show up to heal the 1 red killing the 1 person for the 3v1 gang bang.

Maybe one day I'll try to enter the PvP scene. That is what I currently see the scenario to be.
