Hello, I seem to be having terrible lag spikes here. I go from a 40 ping to over 300. I have a great connection and have been playin on OSI servers until yesterday and played UOSA with no issues. Are others having this issue?

Your the first person I have heard of having this issue. Hopefully staff or somebody else can point you in a good direction to help you solve your issue.

I too had some serious lag spikes earlier today but they seem to have stopped for now.

Where is this server located? I can try WTFast or lowerping to see if any of those proxys will help out. But I live in mississippi witha 50meg internet connection so I should be good.

Also, what is the IP to the server itself so i can traceroute it. I tracerouted the login and here are the results to that.

Our server is currently located in the central time zone and is hosted by a provider on Cox Communications backbone.

We have opted for pings to be disabled at a host level as the "-ping" command ingame will give you the same information. This also allows us to avoid any DDOS attacks directed at the server via ping flooding.

We use a separate web host also, rather than bundling the services on the same physical or virtual server as most free shards do.

That said when testing the network recently I did save a screenshot of the ping test to our server.

Feel free to post any locations and pings and we will look into any issues.

I was just trying to do a traceroute to the server itself so I could see all the pings. I posted the traceroute to the login server, that should suffice if they are connected on the same LAN. Anyway it seems to have cleared up, not sure if the restart was it or not as I was not lagging on anything else. Perhaps it was some sort of sync issue with razor

A local host issue isn't out of the question also, overall our players so far have reported a pleasant experience and we monitor the network health to make sure it stays that way.

The Login (aka game server) is located on its own network separated from all of our other services. We currently do not, nor intend to use, a web based login server for Renaissance given the risks involved with allowing player account names and email information to be stored in that fashion.

Eitherway, it seems to have cleared up. Maybe one of the hops along the way was just loaded up. As long as it stay clear after about 6 my time thats fine anyway. Thanks for the responses though.

I am on the cheapest and slowest option from my provider and have a 190-300 ping. It still feels really smooth. If i have any problems it is usually local. I wish i was off base, $40~ for 1gps would rock! From South Korea
