Just a humble suggestion, but I think it would really cool if we were able to pick up fruit and vegetables from around the world; apples and peaches from trees, grapes from vineyards, cabbage and carrots from farms, etc. Might not be terribly important in the grand scheme of things here on UOR, but it would add to the immersion of this wonderful world that we still love to be a part of. I know there are bigger fish to fry, like buffs to archery, provo onto players, and changes to stealing amongst so many others (in no particular order), but I'd love to hear what you all think of this.
the gardening system exists, the code is done... just needs to be evaluated for "perfected history" e.g. the items produced from it reduced to deco only I liked me some gardening. I had a tinker/gardener. He had a tinker made golem and grew some fantastic herbs.
Gardening was one of my favorite side thingys to do in UO. Really can't wait for it to be added here.
I definitely enjoyed gardening back in the day, and cannot wait to see how we have it implemented here on UOR. However, I'm talking about simply being able to double click fruit trees and grape vines for instance and have a certain number of spawnable fruit/edible items be produced from that.
I'm all for gardening. I've always been there for gardening. I love gardening and I would love to pick apples pears and peaches. It would be great if we could grow vegetables in addition to decorative plants so.... I'm all for your idea. Please Chris, give us gardening!!!!!!
That's pretty cool. I've never seen this video, but I read an article with the same content a while back.
You can pick apples from trees. Just double click an Apple tree... Or double clicking any vegetable in a field... am I wrong about this?
You can pick some veggies from fields but not pumpkins, apples or the grapes from Empath Abbey. I wish we could.
@Zim thanks for sharing that video. My end game in life now is to get a wolf head pipe. Also, I read somewhere that original OU ecology would lure dragons from the mountians to feed on deer. If deer were in short supply the dragons would begin to raid the towns. Dang cool concept! I see why they had issues with it though, too bad it didn’t work out.
Yes, I read the same article, thought that was such a cool idea! Always fascinating to read about some of the history behind the making of UO. Thanks for all of your replies, going to be checking out these locations and keeping my fingers crossed that maybe someday the list of lootable plants and trees will expand.
