Day after day, we sailed blue seas under the bright sun. Life was good. We caught record setting fish, ate sushi on the deck. We had a blessed life. We worked well as a team. Fishing became a passion that we both loved. Fishing and fighting, side by side we scoured the ocean in search of lost treasure. Sea monsters from the deep and Krakens tried to destroy us and sink our sturdy ship. Each time we conquered and claimed our well earned loot! I was called inland. Left my beloved smiling and fishing. I returned to an empty ship. No note. No body or blood… just empty. I sailed from one end of the ocean to the other, finding no trace of my beloved. No hint of what happened or the fate that had befallen. To this day, I stand on the shore by our home, day after day, watching, waiting. My heart is locked in the chest that contains remnants of our life together, waiting to return it to my love. I pray to see that face appear.
http://uorforum.com/threads/keep-the-lanterns-lit.11207/ I saw a fine saga once writ, Involving lanterns that need be kept lit, The lore from Basoosh, About oceans breeze swooshed, Perhaps your lover set sail, off adrift. . . Now there's plenty tales of old salty sea men, The reason Sea C Avenger still holds his lit beacon, The mind can be harsh, Drumming past beating hearts, If memories haunt us, we're destined to repeat them, The key appears placed in unrest, If your heart remains locked in a chest, Requiring a kindly locksmith, To unlock your dream with his gift, May the four winds favor you, hence on your quest. - Lion
Treasures locked away, praying for a return, safe and sound. The heart of mine is one of the treasures that belongs to him, locked away, forever his. It will remain locked, waiting, wanting, hoping. Years I will wait, years I will yearn. The true heart will forever be.
Sing me a song of a lad that is gone, Say, could that lad be kai? Merry of soul he sailed on a day Over the sea to Skye. Mull was astern, Rùm on the port, Eigg on the starboard bow; Glory of youth glowed in his soul; Where is that glory now? Give me again all that was there, Give me the sun that shone! Give me the eyes, give me the soul, Give me the lad that's gone! Billow and breeze, islands and seas, Mountains of rain and sun, All that was good, all that was fair, All that was me is gone. --Adapted from Robert Louis Stevenson's 1892 poem
I have searched these lands, far and wide for any word of my beloved. I have searched for rumors or any word of him. If anyone has word of him, please, I want him home!
Nice thread @Magnolia Mull and Eigg are my favourite places in the whole world and the year I spent living on Mull in 2010 was the best time in my life. Went back last year for a hike so thought I would share this sunset pic I took from the top of Ben More.
I arrived at the fishing fortress of Serpent's Hold. At the bank, I asked about my beloved. They have no news of him. I went to the Fisherman's Brew on the South Docks. No one has heard of him on the South Docks. They referred me to The Dog & Lion Tavern. Again, no word of him at all. They said maybe he was hurt and to try the healer. No one named White Beard has been here to be healed. On the North Docks, only a working girl was there. It cost me 50 gp for her to tell me no one by that name had been there. Another day he is gone. Another day of searching with no word of him.
Hounds may help, once I get close enough for a trail. Since he was last seen on a ship in the ocean, hounds will have to track once a clue on land is found.
A stinking old heart was left on the road near Skara Brae, found by an unscrupulous man, though it could have belonged to anyone. . .
Let me tell you about my beloved, White Beard. He is a quiet man, a strong man. He appreciates life and freedom. His muscles, hidden by his robe in this picture, are strong and well developed from years at sea, hoisting sales and hauling in sea monsters he can kill on his own. He is kind. He thinks of others before himself. He cannot cook worth a damn but can survive days on end at sea alone. His heart is strong and kind. He is so patient and never lost his cool when teaching me how to fish. (I still hate baiting the hook) He always had a great sea adventure story to share... often about 'the one that got away.' I can't swear they all are true, but none the less, worth the time to listen. Even the dolphins follow him to listen to his stories. He gives without expecting anything in return. He gives from the heart with love. I do not know how old he is. He has the energy and the body of a young man, the wisdom of the old. I just know when I am with him, I feel complete.
No nightmares for the lady Magnolia! (Unless she wishes to mount one herself) Can't you see she is seek'n her dream? *chases off Freddy Krueger*
Blessed BE!!! He is found! I must have been riding the coasts for days. My eyes are so blurred from crying, day and night. I thought my mind was playing tricks on me when I thought I saw a body washed up on a beach in the middle of no where. I kept riding closer, afraid to even hope it could be him. As I got closer, my heart began to skip a beat. I jumped off my mare and ran up closer to check. It was HIM!!! My beloved!!! His skin was a little burnt and his lips chapped, but he was alive!!! Barely conscious, I helped him on my mare to bring him home. Slowly letting him sip water. It was hours before he could tell me what happened. He was fishing while I was inland. A deep sea monster appeared behind him. He did not see him until it was too late. He fought him with all his might. His weapon was out of reach. The giant sea monster knocked him over board. He floated in vast ocean for days. Eventually, as dolphin took pity on him and pulled him to shore. It was luck I found him before a dire wolf or mongbat came along. He is ready to go back out to sea... but I refused to allow him to go until he has rested in a soft bed and in my arms where I know he is safe. Tomorrow is another day. My heart is just bursting with joy!
