Okay, this has been messed up for quite some time now. I posted/talked about it previously: "The bonus for damaging armor and lowering stamina will now be restricted to the following mace weapons: Mace War Mace War Hammer War Axe Hammer Pick Club Maul Wands, staves, and smith hammers will not damage armor or reduce stamina. " Currently quarter staves drain stamina and war axes do not!! I am not sure if anything else is messed up as those are the weapons I had available on the characters.
BUMP!!! Still not fixed, war axe currently does not drain stamina but staves are! It should be war axe drains stamina and staves do not. If you have been using a war axe for the past year you have been getting SCREWED!
The war axe should certainly drain stamina. We'll get this fixed. Regarding staves, I'm not entirely sure whether or not they drained stamina in era, however it doesn't make much sense that staves wouldn't reduce the target's stamina while being part of the macing category. As I remember it staves were actually supposed to drain additional stamina on top of the macing reduction as an incentive to using staves in combat considering they are the only two-handed weapons (excluding archery) which do not have the ability to perform special abilities, but im not certain.
Same here, but I don't know if it's mezmerizing or highly disturbing...I just can't seem to look away!
I believe staves reduced stamina like all macing weapons. The Qstaff was a nightmare during UOR, being the fastest way to drain an enemy's stamina. I'm sure you can find anecdotal quotes to this effect in the old groups postings (I can't remember the link to those at the moment to search myself). I do not believe staves did any "additional" stamina damage beyond the normal macing amount, at least not through 2001 or so. But again, the qstaff was indeed the fastest stamina drainer, merely because the mace category stamina drain was static (3-5 stamina per hit?) and the qstaff swung the fastest.
Then when after this was stamina drain re-implemented for staves? "Wands, staves, and smith hammers will not damage armor or reduce stamina" Staves were nerfed at this time, I don't know if they brought stamina drain back after this point though. Honestly, I don't mind stamina drain staying with staves and don't see why they should be nerfed HERE, but not double stamina drain lol!
Sometime before 7/2/04: http://www.game-master.net/pit/ubbthrea ... 5&page=all I really have no idea though. There used to be a site somewhere with all OSI patch notes listed, but I can't find it in a searchable format.
Qstaff stamina drain is a good thing, imo. If it did not have stamina drain then the war hammer would be the only mace used in pvp.
I think the War Axe - once it is fixed to drain stamina - could be a viable pvp weapon. I'm torn on qstaff though... it seems like during UOR, at various points, it both did and did not reduce stamina. Not sure what the "right thing to do" there is.
The same could be said about your avatar, but this isn't a trash talk thread now is it? Take it somewhere else if you have nothing to add to the topic being discussed. Club is far better than War Axes as far as DPS is concerned, or should be anyway.

Confirmed, War Axes are not draining stamina like they should. This should just be a one-line code change in WarAxe.cs
