I have looked at magical wizards hat and got an idea (mostly because they suck).

I figured since there are no magical clothing items yet (or if they will be added at all) that it would be neat to add a little bonus to some clothing. Someone with GM inscription will be eligible to purchase a magical pen from an NPC scribe for 100,000g. The pen will be a one time use to create a magical scroll. This scroll will grant a bonus to str, dex or int when applied to a piece of headgear.

Headgear will consist of either mask or cloth, no armor.

The stat bonus will range from 2-6.

The % chance of bonus applied:
    2 point bonus is 15%
    3 point bonus is 30%
    4 point bonus is 40%
    5 point bonus is 10%
    6 point bonus is 5%

The way I have it is you will end up with a decent magical piece on average, and rarely end up with a piece of crap or high quality.

So you are a GM scribe, you buy the pen, you create either dex, str or int magical scroll, you apply it to the approved piece of headgear and get a random stat increase.

    What does everyone think?

This idea can be tweaked around if needed.

Initially I like it. Reserving to Edit this for pro's and Con's when I get a break at work :)

If the stat increase bonus is perpetual, the item should not be able to be blessed, can be looted and will break from damage.

If the stat increase has a temporary status or only works a certain amount of time, perhaps that can be acceptable.
Interesting concept but a bit worrisome as there is nothing in the game currently that buffs stats or skills in a perpetual form.

Perhaps it can only work for an hour before it requires a 2 hour cool down?
Something like that, to keep it from getting OP/Abused.

Yes, they would break but i figured could be blessed as they would cost beyond 100000 gold. If you spend 800000 for a max stat one and it were not blessable why would anyone bother with it? You are getting minimal gains and can wear only one piece of headgear. Melee strikes you in the head for full dmg.

If the charge ran out then I would eliminate all the lower bonus and only include a bonus of 5 to stats.

The 2 hour charge with cooldown could be appropriate, but easily avoided.

I think it should definetly not be blessable if at all.
    Something for the rich badasses.

And i agree that UO is not about stat mod items and should not be about them.

Really? I can have a constant +20 dex at 9g~ every 2 minutes...
540g to keep that dex up for 2 hours.

And UO isn't about stat boosting...

I'm not proposing all different types of items to add stats, only a hat, mask, bandana, etc.

Okay, non-blessable at 5k gold sounds alright.

I also believe UO had magical items with way more bonus than what I have proposed.
