I decided to build a tank mage / med warrior and I'm really curious what everyone's opinions are.

    Magery
    Meditation
    Eval
    Resist
    Anatomy
    Tactics
    Fencing

If you don't have eval you are making more a med-warrior, which can be fun as well, just have to play with your stats then

**Edit, changed to fencing from swords...para blows!

Also, a tankmage template includes offensive magery. The main point is: its a mage first, and a weapon user secondly. The templates you listed were dexxer templates.
Here is Erzas Template for example (lots of fun)

    Edit:
Since you are looking for a Med Dexer Template... i recommend Fencing.
Its good for both solo fighting (fencing + all defensive options available) + team fighting (para blows, group healer, bandages for dead people)

Hella fun to play, easy to learn

Sorry for the wrong title. Wasn't sure what the build was called.

The hally mage concept worked best before there wasn’t the swing delay when loading a weapon. It still works, but now once you equip a weapon there is around a 2 second swing delay, instead of the explo-ebolt-equip weap-insta-hit combo. You can still precast-load weapon-swing-drop spell, which makes the tank mage still a lot of fun. A hammer mage with meteor swarm scrolls can provide almost instant death if their timing is right.

Thanks dude, I just started back recently after a couple year hiatus and couldn't remember the concept of insta-hit and what we had here.

@Erza Scarlet do you miss not having healing? And so relying on magery for both primary offence and healing? Thinking about trying a tank mage sometime soon....
