Murder count question for the PKs

Hello, I was recently murdered while already being killed by a bunch of monsters by a gang of very brave PKs and when asked whether I'd like to leave a murder count I declined because I brush it off. However, this made me wonder: are murder counts badges of honor among murderers? Or would they prefer not to get counts?

I think opinions differ on this one. Some pk's appreciate not being counted because it allows them to stay out of stat easier and kill more players without ramifications. Personally, I have a long term goal of 1,000 long term counts, so everyone who refuses to count me is slowing down my progress. Yesterday I killed 4 separate people and didn't get a single count. I am actually approaching a point where I may withhold my customary rez and no loot rules unless I get credit for my kills (via a count).

Musician PK'in and now you El Horno what's this shard coming to?! I know of a few people that tell the victim(s) count for a rez.

Thank you for the feedback. As I don't think the PKs in my case earned it, it sounds like I did the right thing in denying them counts.

Alice you should give them counts every time unless you feel like doing them a favor. While they may view their long terms as a badge of honor, every short term involves them staying online another 8 hours to avoid stat loss. This is much more punishing when you consider that often reds are running in groups of 3-5.

Count them if they are blue. If they are red and have more than 30 short term counts, I don't think it really makes a difference.

Well, I have never PKd anyone ever since the game originally went live.

I would bet good money Westra has never, either. Except, she is PFR. Ever seen them on the same screen?

I tried to pk one time on another server but I wound up feeling sympathetic for my still-unmolested victims and went home.

I just don't have the heart to murder someone, but I do appreciate that we have pks to add risk to our activities. I always give counts so that they stay in stat longer because that's their risk vs reward.

Even I have 1 count. But that's mostly because I have not GMed all my intended skills and foresee failing. also, OCCLO TRAMMEL.

Could someone perhaps explain this again please? Not sure why I cant come to term with this?

If I make a PK, kill someone and they give me a "count" What negative effect do I suffer from, and for how long?

You'll get a long term murder count (Doesn't decay for 40 hours) and a short term murder count (Doesn't decay for 8 hours)

If you are over 5 LONG term murders, your character will be red.
If you are over 5 SHORT term murders, your character will res in stat loss.

Stat loss will take (at most) 15% of your total skills and stats if you res while your character has more than 5 short terms. I'm not sure if it's scaled stat loss (some shards 5 short terms = 5%, 15 shorts = 15% and anything beyond 15 shorts is still 15%). I've only died in stat loss with 100+ short counts here, and resurrection is the only option in those cases.
