Hello everybody willing to help with info. Not that me being that lazy, but I'm pressed for time with some writing that I need this info for and a quick search of the first page of google on that question gave only 1 result which I needed and it was very short with the info I already knew. The moons of Britannia are Felucca and Trammel. So I'm looking for the information on the time scale of Britannia: how are month's called, how many days in a month, year. Or is the time scale based on the moons calendar and so forth. Any info in this thread or a link will be much appreciated.
From what I understand even in the original Ultima series, time has been the same as we know it now. Although Britannia time was always faster than earth time, as indicated by the characters who were from Earth but ended up in Britannia aging slower than regular Britannians (Lord British, The Companions Shamino, Iolo, Dupre, and others). Some of the games used calendar time where you could see the day, month, and year... which from what I could gather was the same months we have.
Hmm, thanks Paddy, so if we believe that vendor system is working correct Britannia's time is just 5 times faster. I had the suspiction that it has a moon calendar as the moongates worked based on the phases of the moons. And as I didn't play the original UO series thought maybe some of the veterans knew. I really wanted to try them from the very first part last year, but when I watched an overview on it (with those space shuttles!!!!!!!!!!!!, not even speaking about the modern graphics) I quit this idea.
I was always fond of Ultima 6 and Ultima 7 part 1 & 2. Some people liked U8 and U9 but not many lol. The early ones were tile based but you'd probably enjoy Ultima 7, you'd need to download Exult from http://exult.sourceforge.net/ to play it, or use DOSBox. The graphics are similar to that of UO just a little more primitive, but very fun.
One "earth" year = five UO years One UO year is 876 UO days or 73 earth days UO year has 12 months just like us One UO month has 73 UO days (get it now?) So, 12 UO days = one earth day 2 hours = one UO day Ultima Online's first day of release was the UO year of "289" With this information, one would be able to create a current UO calendar
I have double checked just to be sure, but the information presented is accurate and verified If you are interested in the various lore-related festivals and holidays, I have some books kicking around the King's Library detailing them (many of the towns have their own various holidays, held on specific days of the year). I also have a rather detailed timeline of the Ultima and Ultima Online history with the UO dates on them.
Alex Caember, thanks, I'll take it into consideration in future. But for this project this info is enough.
That's the odd thing. The only place I've observed it was on live and I made some old notes back when I found out time had alot to do with spawn. So day/night time and what not has alot to do with where you are. Playing around with how our world works I found where the "equator" was and how the sun tracked across the map. Some places night would last an nearly an hour... others much less... others more... especially on Dagger Island.
To my knowledge, there are 1.3 copies of the Qamrasutra. The full, complete copy he gave away during Christmas. The other partial copy is locked away in my vault. I don't think he will release anything further regarding that
