Notice to Hotmail, Live Mail, Outlook email users - (Resolved)

    Due to our new web host being assigned what appears to be a (1.) New IP Address or (2.) Spammers Ip address microsoft is currently returned all emails sent to those domains.

    I'm currently on my 4th day trying to work it out with Microsoft but they are terrible at best.

    If you have any tips on dealing with similar issues please let me know, otherwise if you have trouble register for the forums just contact Telamon (me) on IRC and I will take care of it manually.

    If you are wondering with you are not getting thread updates, or password reset emails this is why.

    We hope to have this resolved soon.

    4-27-16 Update

    After working with Microsoft for almost a month I do not think this is a fixable problem. Their system is broke beyond understanding and once they flag you, there is no way to get the flag removed. They can provide me with no evidence of actual spam. I've joined the SDNS program, the Junk mail reporting program and not a single message originating from our domain has been flagged.

    Going forward we will recommend players switch away from these mail services when using the forums or registering their accounts ingame. Based on my research this is a common problem with Microsoft email services and I have yet to find any confident solutions to the problem. Even the Microsoft staff, on the Microsoft forums are unable to provide a solution to affected users.

    Since Microsoft refuses to work with us (or anyone) to resolve the problem, it is impossible to figure out which problem to resolve. At the moment the only thing we can assume is that we were assigned a new IP address and Microsoft does not permit new IP addresses to send email to their services. We have explored every avenue to resolve the problem and at the moment all we can do is submit the same pointless form, every day until the problem is resolved.

    To reduce the amount of email that we are sending to these domains we have disabled email responses for users who still have affected accounts linked to their profile and reset the email alerts on all watched threads to false. Non microsoft email users are welcome to edit their user profiles if they wish to receive emails on watched threads going forward.

    Why did your provider provide you with a dirty IP? Typically you can check on DNSBL and other blocklists like Spamhaus and the like. Just be glad you don't have to deal with AOL's support when it comes to any kind of potential e-mail abuse.

    Did you get any deferral messages or did it go straight to rejecting?

    Are SPF and DKIM records configured on your new host?

    I did check all those and see no problems with the IP address.

    This is the message I am getting with each email

    SMTP error from remote mail server after MAIL FROM:<admin@uorenaissance.com> SIZE=9434:
    550 SC-001 (BAY004-MC3F9) Unfortunately, messages from 162.144.147.24 weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list. You can also refer your provider to

    I've yet to find the list that has us blocked, as everything shows fine when I look into it.

    Have you tried this?

    Also, your SPF records look ok. Emails contain a link back to the forums, right? That might be what's causing the issue. Will a plain old regular email get through?

    This should be resolved soon Fungus.

    This is literally the only solution. What I've discovered is that they don't actually check anything. They enter the ip address. It says blocked or not blocked and they send you a canned email. They don't check to see why you are blocked.

    After months of a this headache, I have finally got this resolved and 99% of all emails are being sent without issue. Hopefully this annoying chapter in shard technical problems is over.
