Gather around, fair citizens of Britannia, and let me regale you a tale of courage and conviction! Olaf Seabjorn Presents: Olaf Seabjorn: Hired Courier Act I : Prologue Our tale begins with the most humble of origins; a traveler, new to these lands, finds himself with a desire to see what lies within these foreign borders. This traveler is Olaf Seabjorn - a simple man of simple tastes: wine, women, song, and the sea. Ever looking for new opportunities, Olaf takes to exploring, and stumbles upon the Village of Paws, and decides to browse the wares of what appears to be a local merchant. This merchant, however, is not selling traditional goods; this merchant is selling adventure! Act II : A Journey Begins Olaf, upon finalizing the purchase, finds himself in the employ of the Village of Paws. He is to act as a courier; delivering 1000 gold pieces and some minor gifts to the Shining Path Armory, a armor smithy in the city of Trinsic, which lies to the East of Paws. To prepare for this journey, Olaf Seabjorn humbles himself at the Shrine of Sacrifice, and asks his gods for strength. Being new to Britannia, Olaf has no wealth to properly outfit himself with the necessary equipment or provisions a journey of this magnitude would normally require. Olaf must trust that his gods will ensure him safe passage to Trinsic, armed with his faith and a skinning knife. Sometimes, however, the gods are cruel. Act III : Terror in the Wood Withing mere minutes of leaving the shine, Olaf is ambushed by a hulking headless beast and a ravenous dire wolf: easily the most fierce creatures he has ever encountered. The headless monster proved to be less troublesome than Olaf initially feared; after being struck dozens of times by the skinning knife, the headless one collapses. The direwolf, being nearly impervious to knife wounds, is too great a foe for Olaf, and he flees for his life. He comes across a nearby guard post, and makes shelter until he is able to heal his wounds and continue upon his quest. Act IV : The City of Spirituality With the nightmare on the road behind him, and the Trinsic city walls before him, Olaf finally feels as if he does in fact have what it takes to survive in these savage lands. With a sigh of relief, he enters the city. Not knowing where to head, Olaf stops by an inn for directions. The innkeeper was less than helpful. Determined to fulfill his duty as courier, Olaf disregards the rude innkeeper and continues his search for the armory. After hours of scouring city block after city block, some good fortune eventually happened upon Olaf, and his destination had been found. Act V : A Contract Fulfilled The armory Guildmaster and his armorsmiths were quite pleased to finally be compensated for the assistance they provided the Village of Paws. Being a less than talkative bunch, Olaf found great satisfaction when receiving a sincere "thank you" upon his transfer of payment. And, as stated in the instructions given to him by those whom he is in the employ of, Olaf left the parcel and remaining items at the shop. Act VI : Epilogue Having completed his day's work, Olaf retired to the nearby inn for a night of well deserved rest. Optimistic about his future in these lands, Olaf slept soundly for the first night in many.
Bravo brave courrier! I shall see to it that our village historian memorizes this fantastic tale in short order. Just. Bravo!
